Or perhaps Aladdin just wants us to upgrade to Stuffit Expander 7, so they made up a security flaw to push their new "sitx" format...

I think you can already do this using iChat's Rendezvous Messaging. I'm not real sure quite how well it works though, since I have no other Macs to try it with.

As for maintenance, if you are getting this for your grandma, you better be doing that. It's very rude to make your grandmother drag that 20Lbs+>machine down to a local store.

So maybe for YOUR grandma that system would be good, because you're there to provide tech support. But for others, without someone like you, that kind of system isn't practical.

Don't worry, I'm sure they don't care enough about OS X to do all that work just so they can get a few Mac users.

The Rage 128 DOES give you hardware accelerated graphics under OS X. If it wasn't, playing most 3D games would be nearly impossible. As it is, a Rage 128 will give you quite a boost in OS X (I know - I've used OS X with a PowerMac 8500's built-in graphics.) I do agree however, that Apple should provide support for older GPUs (such as the RAGE Pro). But that's not the issue here. Regular hardware video acceleration and Quartz Extreme are two different things. The former works fine in OS X, however it is technically impossible for older graphics cards to work with Quartz Extreme. But you know what? Jaguar still has tons of speed improvements not related to QE, and I know I'm still going to love it, even though I use a Rage 128 myself.

There is no way Netscape will create a Cocoa version. They haven't made that sort of exception for any other platform, and they certainly won't for Mac OS X. Don't get me wrong, I use OmniWeb too, it's just that I think it's wrong to dismiss a browser simply because it isn't made with Cocoa. If it wasn't for the lack of features, Chimera would be perfect for you.

I happen to like the latest Mozilla's quite a lot, and I'm thinking of switching, but I can't figure out how to get Mozilla to import my OmniWeb Bookmarks. Does anyone know how?
