When I'm interacting with other people, I want the right to record them.
Now distributing that information might be restricted. But lets say someone lies or tries to extort me in private? If I can record where ever I am then I can have a record of it.
This is especially important when dealing with government. Especially, I want the right to record all interactions with the government.
Outlawing this merely provides protection for the corrupt. Its not acceptable.
My understanding of the term, is that it would be a drive that functioned without propelling any matter away from the vector of thrust.
So far as I know, that is physically impossible which is why it remains in the realm of science fiction. But when I saw the title of the article, I got excited because that would be a hell of a discovery. Sadly it is not to be... still cool though.
It is a good idea to have cops wear personal video recorders at all times.
By the same token, it might be a good idea for a lot of other people to do the same thing.
The wiretap laws need to be adjusted to make recording anything you might otherwise see with your eyes permissible unless its copyrighted information. Obviously you can't have people walking into movie theaters with cameras active. But a lot of situations legally would be a lot more simplistic if we had video evidence in all altercations.
Corruption and bribery would be less of an issue. Various types of non-fatal assault... accidents. All of it would be easier to process if we had video evidence.
Ah but it does if the second wrong is less wrong and replaces the previous wrong.
If something is 100 points of wrong and I replace it with something that is 10 points of wrong then the idea is 90 points of wrong less.
As to your points... dude.
1. The land is the same as the highway land. So it should only really be station land use since the track land is already being used for highways.
2. The tube will be almost entirely above ground. In fact, it might be above ground at all times. In fact, its mostly going to be elevated. So not only out of the ground but above the ground.
3. Materials costs are lower mostly because the tube is cheaper then the track. It doesn't have to be as precise. Very even precision steal track is expensive. Concrete pipe is not.
The train is about 60 billion too expensive and getting more expensive all the time.
Its also very slow. It won't even go 200mph which is a joke. The plane is vastly superior at that speed.
Bottom line. The train is officially an idea backed exclusively by the ignorant or the corrupt. Anyone with a clue wants to kill the idea unless they're on the take.
So ANYTHING that shuts that project down is in the public interest.
Furthermore, if we are to have a stupid boondoggle vanity project then I want it to be one I can actually be proud of... a 1970s era fast train that is about 10 times over budget doesn't do it for me.
68 billion for this thing is madness. So anything that undermines the project and shuts it down is in the public interest.
Further, if we're going to build a silly vanity project, I'd much rather have the hyperloop. The hyperloop is at the very least cutting edge and not something out of the 70s. California is supposed to be cutting edge. We deserve better then an over priced crappy train.
I've been on a lot of game dev forums and the thing is that they don't start out hostile.
What happens is that the devs will frequently ignore the fan base who are their customers... do stupid things that pretty much everyone hates... insult the fan base by either saying people really want the thing they don't want or say they don't care what people want and do it anyway.
In addition to that, you'll have bugs that won't get fixed for MONTHS to YEARS despite many updates... simple things... that just get ignored in patch after patch after patch.
So yeah, after awhile people can get hostile.
I was recently on the Hirez forum for a game called smite. The company shut the forum down it got so toxic. But it was their own fault. They pissed everyone off horribly and instead of listening to people they ignored them/told them they didn't care. SHOCKINGLY people were upset.
And instead of dealing with that situation from their CUSTOMERS they decided to shut the forum down and move everything to Reddit where its pretty much impossible to sustain a good righteous flame.
That is a literal windows phone... that could run windows software. Someone got windows XP to run on andriod so MS could have just made their phone OS windows. Obviously supply a proper phone GUI or work in your metro surface stuff so that its all touch centric. That's fine. But if the phone ran WINDOWS software then anyone could just pop their browser open on the phone and just have Adobe Flash render the video.
Google would have no ability to dick with it because doing so would dick with all the desktop windows users which is not a game google wants to play.
MS is fragmenting their user base with these mutually incompatible operating systems. Why is the Xbox OS different from windows? No reason for it. I could see why you'd have a different explorer for it. That is the GUI exe for windows... its called explorer and it generates the desktop and windows etc. But the core operating system is independent of that.
All these systems could have the same OS with different GUIs. Their programs would be cross compatible and the smaller devices especially with smaller user bases would get the benefit of all the programs available to all the other systems.
If/When MS does this they'll instantly win. Until they do they're going to keep failing.
I presented a logical argument and you responded with mindless drivel.
At which point I told you to kill yourself. When you expressed indignation at being judged for spouting idiocy, I merely reminded you that you are actually a moron.
And where did I ask for the government to give me the internet? And what's more the government didn't build the internet so much as it was invented as an inter department communication system for universities and was adopted by the telecommunications companies.
Pound for pound how much of the internet is the government? What percentage? Very little. And despite the NSA building a big server farm... they're a smaller portion of the net every day.
You want to pretend you're better then me because you give a rubber stamp to any government project no matter how stupid? You want to pretend you're better because I make a civic attempt to understand and evaluate what my government is doing? Outright idiocy.
And what makes your comments even more stupid is that I was actually asking the government NOT to build things because its ideas of late have been wasteful, stupid, and corrupt. And yet like some idiotic ideological tape recorder stuck on "you damn kids" you presume to judge me?
Kill yourself. You are now wasting oxygen. Bacteria will use your biomass more efficiently.
wrong. amtrack doesn't check because there was no public safety outcry about terrorism on trains.
The TSA is 90 percent security theater. Its a show put on to cover the asses of politicians.
Would the TSA have stopped the 9/11 hijackings? No.
What will prevent future terrorist take overs of planes is that the passengers will riot and kill the terrorists. Government had nothing to do with that and has done nothing to make our planes safer. We made our planes safer about 40 minutes after the first hijacking at no cost and without creating any additional infrastructure. All that was required was for the American people to understand that the terrorists would crash the planes and kill the passengers. THat's all we needed to know. Had the passengers on 9/11 known what was happening they would have killed the terrorists before they took control of the cockpits. They would have been beaten to death with women's shoes.
The TSA is a waste of time. We can make the airports much more efficient towmorrow simply by reforming airport security.
You control airport security not by xraying every person but instead by actually knowing who is getting on the plane in the first place. The Israelis have a very efficient air network that works in a much more hostile environment. It works because they know who bought tickets before they even arrive at the airport. If you're on a list you might get searched or turned away from the airport. If you're not... you flow through the system like it isn't even there.
disagree... thrust to mass ratios from several different engine designs are more then capable of lifting a grown man off the ground without exceeding 100 or so pounds.
You will need something like a jet engine... possibly with some sort of rocket assist to propel you initially off the ground... and you might want to have some lifting surface make gliding more practical. But saying its technically impossible to make an engine that powerful in that form factor/mass is overly pessimistic.
All your electricity is coming from coal power plants in Arizona so your little co2 argument is laughable. No offense.
The best hope for low emissions power in the US was nuclear power. But the illiterate throwbacks that protest against such things have succeeded in shutting down the nuclear power plants.
Fine. Coal it is...
California is littered with the ghost towns of failed green energy projects going back 40 years. Go out to the desert and you'll see them. Rotting monuments to the ignorance and stupidity of people that thought some wind mills could compete with a real power station. They can't. They didn't. Its not a matter of opinion. Its history. Its fact. Its what happened.
Look at all the green energy projects pushed in the last 10 years. How many of them have turned out to be scams or just failed outright due to incompetence? Nearly 100 percent.
Learn from that. Electricity means power. And power means generation. And generation means somewhere there is a power plant.
Again, you're going to tell me solar is great. Well, if its so great how come not a single solar power plant in the world powers its own operations with solar power?
Exactly.
That might change in the future. But i'm familiar with the current technology and its not ready for prime time. Its too expensive, too fragile, and frankly our other energy sources are just better.
When I'm interacting with other people, I want the right to record them.
Now distributing that information might be restricted. But lets say someone lies or tries to extort me in private? If I can record where ever I am then I can have a record of it.

its a non-starter for obvious reasons which are obvious.
Very cool technology but its not a reactionless drive sadly. The magnets merely allow a swarm of sats to hold a formation in relation to each other.
Oh well... darned laws of physics getting in the way again!
you're in public
so... people are watching you already.
It is a good idea to have cops wear personal video recorders at all times.

Actually, anyone that is literate can see you failed horribly and fell to making really stupid insults when your argument collapsed.
Whatever, bro. Delude yourself as you please. Anyone with more then two functioning brain cells knows the truth.
no it isn't... one failed project is likely enough to break the hysteria that caused the first project to get in the first place.
Regardless, its a worthy gamble.
You want to be a purist about it? Then shut down the existing program right now and I'll side with you.
Fail to do that and I'll go to plan B.
End of discussion.
Sounds like someone is still sore after the last time he got spanked.
I drink your tears, twit.
*flicks frozen peas dbll's forehead*
You are now little more then a sad object of reticule.
Penny saved is a penny earned.
This project might stop the bullet train which will save us money.
Its a zero sum game. That's money.
Ah but it does if the second wrong is less wrong and replaces the previous wrong.

The FCC was created to regulate radio.
It shouldn't be regulating cable tv and has no right to regulate internet communication.
Doesn't matter.
The train is about 60 billion too expensive and getting more expensive all the time.

That's how you beat the polygraph. Thank you and good night
You're still spouting prerecorded insults that have nothing to do with me. You're a tape recorder. A human parrot.
And that's why you really should just kill yourself. You're not a thinking sapient individual and thus contribute nothing to human society.
Unless you can fetch? Can you fetch? Or roll over? Shake hands?
Good boy. :D
Again, you're a moron so I'm going to just have fun with you.
I've been on a lot of game dev forums and the thing is that they don't start out hostile.
