    I'm pretty surprised at how many /.ers are willing to buy data in the form of voice minutes and SMS at extorsionate rates but not a proper data plan. Since voice and SMS are data anyway, why not get a data-only plan? I set up a tablet data plan and use it on my smartphone and even with the addition of premium VoIP service (from voip.ms, great service) I'm saving $40/month over my old voice+data plan.

    The Chinese government are certainly hypocrites, and liars as well, but personally I don't think hacking is as bad as bombing.

    Agreed, I can't imagine how this would be better than 60GHz. Mind you I don't see a lot of point in either at home. Maybe someday I'll want to instal a device in every room so I can stream 4k video from a mobile device, but it sure as hell won't be anytime soon.

    No it doesn't. I think VoIP runs at about 12kbps so a 1GB data plan would give you over 12,000 minutes. I dunno what you pay for data down there but here in Canada I get 6GB for $30.

    Actually they are. I get 6GB for $30/month. At ~12kbps for voice, if my math is right that's about 4.2 million minutes.

    Just one of the reasons I'm about to go data-only on my phone.

    You're thinking of Samsung, they spend way, way more on advertising than Apple.

    I primarily use smart playlists too. I just checked and I can enable the column browser while viewing one in list view.

    why would syncing be the same as backing up?

    Because when you've synced everything on a device to another device, you've backed it up.
