Your read is incorrect... only if they used source code from the CDEX release in making the spyware/adware modules would it be required to publish the source.

From Section 2 of the GPL:
If identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the Program, and can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in themselves, then this License, and its terms, do not apply to those sections when you distribute them as separate works.

Shouldn't this read either "fixes to the OS Product that will automatically be uploaded to your computer" or "fixes to the OS Product that your computer will automatically download"?

If Anders Hejlsberg can leave Borland right after designing Delphi and build the MS J++ tools and C# then I suppose anybody could use their own experience.

Both borrowed heavily from Delphi... in interface for J++ and language enhancements in the case of C#.

Oh, and the sweetest day will be when you need new skin or lungs, and because US law doesn't allow the importing of exported Chinese prisonor farmed parts you won't be able to get it.

  6. DC Area Experimenting with this for Years on Using Cellular Traffic to Monitor Traffic Jams · · Score: 1

A joint project run by University of Maryland and another Virginia school (UVA?) in partnership with US Wireless has been doing this for years in the DC area... they are still trying to get the accuracy up but it looks very promising. Check out this for more info: http://www.engr.umd.edu/~lovell/lov01.html . I believe they are tracking only analog and TDMA signals for now, but may expand to CDMA.

This guy is amusing because he is so non-sharp (put nicely)... every interview I read of him he says something dumb. Then I read the text of his deposition. Here are some fine moments:

    Q. When did you assume your present position?
    A. In the group vice-president level, I'm not sure. Two years ago, three years ago, four years ago.
    Q. Was that a promotion for you, sir?
    A. I guess.
    Q. What had been your prior position?
    A. I had been a senior vice-president and right now I can't remember of what.
    Q. Did you assume additional responsibility when you became group vice-president?
    A. I don't -- maybe, but I'm not sure.

Classic! MS high-level execs are WAY more entertaining than Enron's batch of winners.

This idea was NOT proposed in 1975, but much earlier (50's or 60's) by the great Robert Heinlein. It is featured in a story where a "Pile" accident encouraged the development of space-based energy production piles, which beamed the product back down.

Maybe you could then turn it around and sue THEM for ripping YOU off ;>
