That sounds an awful lot like the service academies (West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, etc) which offer a top-notch education for free in return for 6 years as an officer in you respective branch.
1) Caffeine of some sort 2) Check E-mail/IRC 3) Securityfocus/Milw0rm.org etc (0day security sites) for vulnerabilities 4) Ponder over where to eat for lunch
it would not be hard to create a xp/s2003 variant since the codebase is so similiar. its just a matter of time really. i would actually think this would be a selling point for another OS at the frequency that this has happened lately, not to mention the prevalence of rootkits that are extremely hard to detect.

VISTA killed the radio star.
"Apparently there are more people reading Distrowatch with Vista [distrowatch.com] than they are with Debian, so I guess .."
They are looking for another OS?
only when another flagship OS has been released does its' predecessor seem somewhat stable and ready to use (Vista-XP) (ME-98) etc..
perhaps vista will take more adoption and glowing reviews when it's successor is announced/released?
why not make a solid-state device for this?
Great for them! Regardless of presupposed opinions anyone might have, having more choices for the desktop is always a good thing.
If you want something web-based, try out "Taskhopper"
http://taskhopper.com/
It's an addon for the Joomla! Content Management System ( http://www.joomla.org/ )
I have been using it extensively to track customer issues, log new requests, and update and manage any manner of work I might do.
