Does anyone remember watching the video of this accident?
If not, you should go back and rewatch it. Here is what I remember...
The idiot pedestrian walked out in front of an oncoming car in the dark and wearing dark clothing without looking for oncoming traffic. The speed limit in the area was fast enough that a normal person would not be able to stop in time, even if they were paying attention.
The fault is the pedestrian's. They were stupid and walked in front of a moving vehicle. The driver of the vehicle would have been unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian if they tried.
Go back and watch the video and this is very obvious.
Uber's rates have actually gone down, but they are taking a higher percentage of the overall charge to the customer and giving less to the driver. The per-trip fees have increased even though the per mile fee has decreased. The driver gets the per-mile fee.
This absolutely doesn't smell right. And governments have been known for "setting examples" and taking out vendettas against those who would challenge them.
1- I have a minor in marketing, so I am always interested in seeing what the latest advertising trends are, who is doing what, and what techniques are being used
2- If the context and targeting is correct, ads on FB or Google's ad network can be very informative. Concerts, seminars, new products I'm interested in, news bits of subject matter I like, etc. This stuff really helps me know what is going on. What I don't like targeted car, credit card, fast food, women's douche, etc type of ads that have zero relevance to me at all.
Government regulations, permits, and licenses are not needed to keep people safe. The free market works just fine on its own (how many instances of people getting hurt with Uber or AirBnB exist? very few)
Actually only about 20% of those who are wealthy inherited it. Read the book "The Millionaire Nextdoor" and it goes into great detail about a study conducted on this very topic. It's a great read.
The federal government has ZERO authority to do this. Nowhere in the US Constitution are "substances" allowed to be regulated at the federal level. And because of that, the 9th and 10th Amendment prohibit such regulation.
Something isn't right here... I took two semesters of copyright law in college, and cinemas specifically are exempted from this IIRC. You should consult another copyright attorney. Is your cinema inside the US?

They are complaining that the value of dino bones are rising because of wealthy collectors.
But what they don't realize is that if value increases, there will be a harder push for more supply (more digs are likely to be funded).
Open immigration cannot exist in a welfare state.
Bitcoin sure is volatile today!

What you are missing is that there is no competition. If competition were allowed you would see prices fall.
HA! That was brilliant, and very true.

It's called "Live Leak"
Except that competition is cooperation.
It's an unfortunate byproduct of being brilliant sadly...

Now that the government is involved, this will make things all better. /sarc
I doubt you can find any AirBNB host who consented to this nonsense.
This is what happens when government chooses the utility providers.
The situation at hand here would absolutely be solved if there were a free market in utility providers and competition were allowed to thrive.
Cooty's Rat Semen..... no thanks
Taxation is the same thing as theft.
Prices will increase as a result of this nonsense.

They are doing this in South Florida too:
