I love my Debian and would be the first to bash MS if justified.... but saying XP won't stay up more than 100 hours without crashing is pure BS. I use XP at work 8 hours a day, mangling gigs of XML, running Outlook with all the exchange/project goodies, several Java apps and 5+ instances of IE.
I've had uptimes of 40+ days... XP _IS_ stable, unless you bloat it with experimental drivers and shoddy software.
It about time people realize that warez can actually HELP a platform or genre.
I guarantee half the kiddies buying PS2's have dreams of mod chips and ISOs dancing in their heads.
All of the best FPS mods (TF,CS, Painkeep, TWCTF) come from hardcore communities that are fully aware and take advantage of the plentiful warez available on IRC. Sure most people that buy these games donâ(TM)t have a clue what dalnet means and wouldn't know how to script a RJ bind. But these end users who fuel this gigantic industry are all indirectly influenced by warez.
As soon as someone finds a way to rip xbox games to cd, Xbox unit sales will blast off.
Does anyone think there is a connection between: Jedi Knight 2 being the only worty Q3 engine title _without_ cd-key protection and the imminent release of Episode 2?
It's pure marketing genius.
Every warez kiddie playing Jedi Knight 2 is another box office ticket sold.
I personally don't use Mandrake, but if I loved/used Mandrake half as much as I use Debian, I'd have a $100 money order sent to them faster than... hey it's already there.

If you're a Linux Guru, donate your time and your wisdom to us newbies (like most of you do). If you're a newbie, or don't have the time or skills to code and assist others, open that wallet up and fork a little green over to your favorite open source cause.
It's the only way this Linux thing is going to work.
What is the recording quality like with Nupple-video + BT8x8?
Does anyone have a sample video I could have a peek at?
Does this same person mind the 30gig spike in usage where they would offer said file?
Wanna know what my record for consecutive questions is?
Ya you can get this card going in any Distro with bttv, vfl and xawtv... BUT...
1) Recording quality sucks, not even TV quality
2) Video/Audio Sync sucks, i haven't seen a decent capture yet
3) Filesize is HUGE! Capturing 15 seconds of TV is 100+ megs
If I'm wrong here, please describe your working method.
They should have locked that time/warp gate thingy at the end of the Stargate movie. Now it seems MacGyver, who was hopelessly trapped in ancient egypt after the final season of "MacGyver", used a typical duct-tape-and-ball-point-pen-wormhole-trick to reappear in 2002 in a half baked sci-fi series.
I seriously doubt Mediacom or @home's cable system could ever be slow as dialup. I guarantee people claiming this are either hitting sites with less than 10kB downstream (ie. wouldn't make a difference if you were on a pair of t3s) or people are using those crappy USB ethernet adapters that @home is pushing, while running 3 other USB peripherals that are seriously taxing the 12mbit USB cap.
$50 a month too much for Internet? Bah, give me a break.
To see a 2.5hr feature movie is at least $12.50 Canadian, $7.50 for short Go Kart ride, $50 for a day of Skiing, $120+ for a good night drinking with a few drinks for that special someone.
You get what you pay for. Sure it's great paying $9 a month if you're only using email (watch those 5 meg attachments!), and don't really like full screen porn movies.....
The fact is that most dial up people don't even realize that they're missing! They can't and don't ever bother with 60meg Pr0N clips, cueing 30 mp3s in Morpheus or dling the latest 80meg software "demos".
But once they sit on a fat DSL or Cable pipe, and begin to dabble in these high bandwidth delights, they will quickly realize that $50 is squat, ziltch, nada, for the millions options a Broadband solution will open up.
Now open up that wallet you cheap bastard, pay for one month of cable, DSL, satellite and tell me its not worth it. Don't forget to get some decent file sharing software, I suggest Morpheus, Kazza, Gnotella and if youre *nix enabled, theres a shitload of open source options.
Now hurry up, you're meter is running and you know you only put 15c in, cheapo.
I'm not sure what people are ranting about, "@home is capped now!" "@home sux, get dsl!"
I live in Ontario, Canada, and couldn't be happier with the recent @home transition. I still get 250kB+ dl and 50kB up. DSl completely sucks in Ontario with a mere 125kB dl and 15kB up (those are optimal speeds ie. rare).
I think the entire data infrastructure of the US sucks ass as a whole. Ya I'm sure California has 100000000000 terabit fiber lines, but I also hear people with 45k DSL, capped cable and others that are happy to get 41k on a 56k modem.
DSL doesnâ(TM)t rule, Cable doesnâ(TM)t suck, it all depends on you area, and in many cases, your country.
Oh.... and Canada rulez and.... damn, I'd usually say US droolz, but after Sept 11th I keep on getting the uncontrollable urge do hug Americans:)

I'm interested to see, if @ 110ghz, with Q3 cranked to 1600x1200x32, my eyes actually bleed from their sockets.
So true. The day I register to _read_ news at a site is the day I start filling out my yearly salary on pc card registration cards.
Nearly all the newspaper sites in the world offer free, unregistered viewing. Does the NYT really think the news its peddaling is _that_ good?
Let the direct links reign!
Sweet, I'll try these settings tonight.
Thanks!

"Mine works fine" isn't helping anyone.

Patty and Selma must be freaking.
I'm a cheap linux bastard, I don't like paying for software, except for games of course .
Now that Be has gone chapter 11, can I finally get a free copy _FULL_ of Be?
I may have missed the boat here, but I'd really like to try this deceased OS.

So we wanted to release the news early, so take off eh, you hosers.
