Microsoft actually made a program that syncs with Novell passwords. (Here).
For Unix, use this link for finding more information. Especially this and this.
well.. It's easy for them to block people that block ads. It's just to check if they have a hit on the gif banner pictures. If not, then they should ban their ip for e.g. 3minutes.
"When we laugh, we not only create an overall feeling of well-being for ourselves, but also release cells such as Gamma-interferon, T-cells and B-cells - all of which make disease-destroying antibodies."
Well you can say what you want, but this might not be because the body is "healing itself". I believe it's more like a function to prevent from being infected by some diseases. We all know that we mostly laugh when other people are present, rite? So the probability of being infected are greater when you are laughing.
Somebody please try open a open-"sourced" patent office! As we all know, patents cannot be claimed if they allready exist in some sort of written format. So we need a forum where we can post all kinds of ideas, and then claim we own them if somebody try patent them.
I would personally recommend Lavasoft Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.de. "Ad-aware is a free multi spyware removal utility that scans your memory, registry and hard drives for known spyware and scumware components and lets you remove them safely. It is updated frequently.
If you are new to Ad-aware, we recommend you read the getting started tutorial."
I think The first versions of Windows was just a menu system, and NOT an OS. Windows 95 uses DOS 7.0, so it must be considered that DOS is the OS, and that Windows 95 is the "add-on" menu system.
Windows NT is a OS, because it's not an add-on. And Win2k, XP, NET is the same.
Easy to configure/expensive: Win2000 Pro, Pentium 300, Raid, two harddisks, a graffix card, an external card for sending movies over the air to your telly and mp3s through your home-cinema audio. (I watch divx'es like this). I recommend F-Secure for servers for antivirus. Use Apache or IIS for web.
Harder to configure/cheaper: FreeBSD, same system. FreeBSD also have some power management. I recommend F-Prot for FreeBSD. I takes approx 2 weekends before the system is 100%. Use Apache or tomcat for web.
I'm currently looking into PHP and MySQL, since the Microsoft ASP servers are so expensive to put on the net. But even if this book is very cool and such, I miss some plain old tutorials that explains simpler Java examples. I know JBuilder comes with weblogic (or was it another EJB-compatible server?), anyways, configuring tomcat and all that still makes the platform a little hard for starters like me. I miss compiled html files format help guides (the PHP manual already exist in.chm). Anybody know anything here?
OK: Here's an article for you:
"Vivendi Universal has hit hard times in the market and may end up selling its "US focused video game software business". Should Vivendi make this move, Blizzard will be one of the companies effected. As of this moment Vivendi is $19 billion in debt and will have another $9 billion by the end of this year. VU's stock market has also lowered to a all-time low of 13.36 this month, while the high was 59.35. At the moment to which company IF it should be sold is unknown, Although the main interest are coming from Microsoft, Sega, and Sony. What will happen to the free battle.net is yet to be determined, all we can do is hope it stays free. "
I know Vivendi (Blizzard is owned by them I think) needs money, and are actually trying to sell Blizzard to Microsoft. This might be a "gesture" to Microsoft.
On the other hand, this SC:Ghost is developed by another firm, so it's not like Blizzard is not developing StarCraft2 as we speak. Everybody make a petition to contact vivendi.!!!
OK. I was really tired. Still I think I made a unique point.;-) Yes. It was meant as a rather humourus post. I see I got modded down, so I guess it means that the majority of intellectuals on SlashDot do not care of modding.
I hate that commercial. "The switch to Mac". It's like leaving our world and find heaven, where everything "works" and doesn't crash.
Well, all I say if Mac is this "heaven", I would never buy it. I take parallells to real life, where people would loose interest in their life if everything was perfect.
I fear this will be the product of Mac users. Finding a PC that is this "friend" that Mac describe, is like finding the very end to resistance. And as we all know, no resistanse, no progress. I've allready started feeling this Windows XP Pro not crashing, giving me a strange feeling of not being in existence, never actually feeling the power of "look, it's crashes! I know why. I, the physical self, do not crash. I am superior to the computer!"
The very end must be Windows XP on a Mac. Too much of what is not. Too little of the resistance that we all should feel. Look. I typed this with no feeling. Perfect. It works. Simply the best. The missing link. Your own center. Go where you wanna go. It's built for the internet. It's beautiful.
I find these stories very similar to comics, where stories seem to be very similar. I suspect the authors are creating so many similar stories with a purpose: the differences are hard to see, and we end up watching the same show all over again, coz we were unsure if we had seen it before.
I myself have tried patenting some network stuff (it's still pending). I would get some money for this patent, but I think I would rather post it on a Open-Patent forum if there existed a serious one. As we all know, patents cannot be claimed at the patent office if it allready exist by any means in a text on the internet.
I find it especially silly that all those mobile companies (nokia etc) have claimed patents that are so silly that even my dog could have made them up. So I say: Let's open a forum where people can post open-patents (like a more open ietf).
I hate these groups when many people talk their opinions about software. It always end up in slowing down the development. How hard can it be? Just install microsoft messenger and be happy. It has all those features you would need, except those that lame-ass ICQ patented.
I'm afraid that a free WMA decoder promotes Microsoft standards, instead of promoting the use of open standards.
I think it would actually be better to never make anything else than OGG decoders to conquer the push from software giants.
Also, would be nice if you linked up to www.xvid.org, that also is free.
"The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers has leaked on to the internet months before the film's official release, according to US reports. "
(From Yahoo News)
Etc... I saw this story on many sites.
Even on Slashdot
I can assure you folx that this is NOT true, however it seems like many newspapers around the world posted it as a fact.

its not emulating another product. its just emulating a virtual computer. in other words, the product itself (win2000) is not emulated.

Don't forget to download the Reference file Updater v2.01 for Ad-aware.

The best home server. Let me see.

I agree with you 10000000000000% !
