    I'm not on XP, I've been totally on Linux for ages, except in my `enterprise' where I'm forced to use XP ( for security and compliance ) under pain of sanction (yea I know:)). They won't be upgrading in the near future because of budgeting cuts.

    I find it highly ironic that the only way a company can ethuse people to upgrade is by drawing attention to XPees defects.

But that is one more than at an ISP where I was once briefly employed. Maybe they don't want anyone hanging round that long. Cut your losses and start looking for your next job now. Else you're looking at a ten months burnout before they find your replacement, similar to the feller you replaced.

    None of which actually contribute to the business. With Open Source the IT dept spends much less time on the above and that translates into less IT staff, and that means less money spent on IT.

    The windows client uses the API call GetTickCount() to get the current uptime. The value returned by that function can't be larger than 49.7 because elapsed time is stored as a DWORD value.

    By any chance are these SCADA units connected to the Internet, if so then the morons who implimented such a system should be locked up in prison, except they most probably would escape by utilizing some Windows virus. It is taken as given that these systems are running on Microsoft Windows? Give the history of these SCADA systems, who in their right mind, in this day and age would ever connect such systems to the Internet.
