They just want the quick profit. Corporate research does not go after breakthroughs. Govt-sponsored research, OTOH, can go after breakthroughs, because it is not driven to obtain quick profits.
The USA has become a corporate vassal, whereas the other Western nations still look to govt sponsored research.
The fact is that no one is asking that anyone guarantee anything except that our hired men in Washington look out for the interests of the citizens, and not themselves, as they are doing when they allow scum like barrett to manipulate the system.
Your argument is such crap. To analogize, suppose I as a business owner hire a manager, and then catch him redhanded stealing from the register. I confront him, and he claims that I am unfairly demanding from him that he guarantee me a profit of a certain amount.
What business person would let his manager sell out his business to his competitor? Remember, the owners of America are the citizens, NOT the govt, not the corporations, not the CEOs.
Show me how bringing H1Bs to do work here helps the CITIZENS more than having the citizens do the work.
This statement is completely incompatible with building a global economy, which considers national borders as irrelevant, and where the only unit is capital. Of course, you might not believe in this, and I don't completely either, but that's the way things are starting to work out now.
No, we are NOT xenophobic if we oppose the H1B program.

What a massive piece of crap that is. It just has to be "turtles all the way down", huh?
Here is an analogy for you: America is a a business, owned jointly by the citizens. Like the owners of, say, an office building, the citizens set up shop in their country, each selling goods and services for a price. Some of these citizen owners sell their services as programmers. Now these citizens hire a team of managers to help them operate their jointly owned country (call these managers "politicians".)
The politicians are supposed to look out for the owners' interests. Otherwise, they might get fired. Or, if they rip off the owners, the managers might be severely punished.
What happens if the managers go behind the backs of the owners and allow some of the citizens to import programmers to do work in the country/office building? When the managers are confronted with their mismanagement, they call the programmer-owners who were cheated "xenophobes".
I say we try Barrett for treason in a recognized court of law, and then when he is convicted, hang him publicly. Also do the same to Bush, Clinton, and all the rest of the globalizers.
Do all this by the rule of law. Our Constitution gives us the power to do that.
Throw off the yoke of the hierarchical elite. Stop acting like animals. Act like us the citizens own this country.
Vote for Nader or another 3rd party leftist candidate for President and vote 3rd party leftist for all candidacies.
Don't buy into the There Is No Alternative (TINA) scenario presented to you by the neoliberal globalist propaganda. There IS an alternative. Start acting like a business owner. And stop acting like an absentee business owner.
What do you think would happen to a business owned by joint absentee owners who just like the management run the company for years at a time, and just dropping in to vote for management once every few years? Do you think it possible that the management would rip them off? Well, the management of the USA has sold us out to crooks like Barrett. It is time we punish them by the rule of law.
It's an unpopular opinion because we've let females gain too much independence too quickly,
No, the opinion you expressed is unpopular because the business lobbies, through their servants, the media, have MADE it an unpopular opinion. THey want women to work because it provides more consumers. THey like consumers.
but I'm sure in 20 years we'll be looking back and saying "You know, he was right!". Get those women pregnant,
No, reproduction will be a thing of the past in 20 years, or maybe a little longer. Maybe 75 years, or whenever people get educated enough to realize that we are programmed to pass on our genes, but that this is a trap of biology.
I have been looking into this (I am still employed), but if I were laid off, I may take my savings and go to central america or mexico. You can absolutely make money in mexico teaching english. The best thing to do is teach at a school for a while, then go to private lessons.. YOu can stay in mex for up to 6 months on a tourist visa and can even get health ins. on that visa.
Your savings may not be all that much when compared to teh average US citizen, but if you have 30K in central america or parts of mexico, you are a rich rich man.
...this sort of problem. If a govt official takes action that is deemed to be clearly against the interests of public, or if he takes some action found to be clearly illegal, we should publicly execute him, after a fair trial in a recognized court of law.
Public service as a politician or high appointed official is supposed to be public service, and just like those who serve in the armed forces are sometimes required to give up their lives, so too should other govt workers such as politicians be forced to give up their lives if they transgress.
We need a deterrent to our elected and appointed leaders selling out to CorpGovMedia. So I say we take 10% and try them in a court of law for crimes against the people, and then hang them by the neck until dead on Washington Mall (if found guilty). 7
I really doubt that they could make fusion generated power as expensive as oil for one obvious reason: competition. There is very little competition in the oil supply market because the nations that are blessed with huge oil reserves would have it no other way. There is no way that a similiar fusion cartel could be created because anyone can make their own reactor once the technology is mature enough.
WTF are you talking about? If CorpGovMedia develops fusion power, it may very well be very cheap to generate. Fine...
But CorpGovMedia has lots of guns and stuff, and so if they want to sell it to Americans at the same price as oil, who will stop them? American citizens? Puh-leeze!
I will explain a bit more slowly: it doesn't matter all that much if we do develop fusion power b/c it will be completely under the control of CorpGovMedia. Why should they offer fusion power cheaper than its primary competitor, oil? If oil costs N cents for 100 KWatts, then that is how much fusion power, even if it only costs N/100 cents to provide 100 KWatts. THis is because we have no control over CorpGovMedia....
Not really. As long as CorpGovMedia has control of the power, it will be as expensive as they can make it. How can expensive can they make? As expensive as oil.
As long as we abdicate control of our own govt to corporate forces, why should it be otherwise?
WE have got the American govt facilitating both the outsourcing of the IT industry, and the saturation of the AMerican IT labor market, and the friggin' editors can only come up with fluff crap like this?/. is turning into a corporate whore.
.....didn't you just read in the posts above that now it takes both husband and wife working.....what effect do you think that has on household income (when both husband and wife work).
That is the reason for the increase in household income....

That explains SO MUCH!
just keep putting out the word. We Americans will get the idea eventually.
idiot
this should not have been modded as troll
problem solved!

This sort of mass produced hardware for 200 or so, total, is going to put a lot of process plant control manufacturers out of business.
Gives the little guy too much power

That is the reason for the increase in household income....
....not with the indians!
....but as you pointed out, our govt, by promoting globalization, is promoting the welfare of the 3rd world and the "very top of the heap".
THerefore our elected leaders are guilty of a heinous treason.
THerefore I suggest that we try them in a recognized court of law, and when they are found guilty, publicly hang them, starting with George Bush.
Anyone else with me?
