Hm. Since it runs on Crusoe (according to specs on their website), and probably some almost-conventional hard-drive (10 gigs would be a bit too power-consuming for current flash ROMs tech, and they're claiming misery power consumption) - I think no porting would be needed at all (Maybe , framebuffer drivers, if they run on unconventional video hardware). I think, we'll have Linux running on it next day one of this nifty things falls in hands of dedicated Linux hacker.
Man, you know, regular training does magic things sometimes:-) There are beautiful places to walk for some hours , and there are beautiful girls in your local health and fitness club:-) Seriaously, 6 kgs (our how do you yankees measure weight, 13 lbs) aren't that much, if placed in a comfortable bag. Surely, holding such a beast with two fingers is hurting, indeed.
Hm. Man, as for me - Solaris failed to show its advances over linux. SunBlade 100 (you know, this entry-level Sun WS) with Solaris 8, compared with otherwise equal Intel box with linux - Solaris sucks performance-wise, not counting desktop usability. They've probably got finely tuned scheduler, working VM subsystem, and so on and so forth, but, in our development and usage Solaris is inferior to Linux.
Well, given amount of Klez.H-infected mail our mail server has filtered through this week - I highly doubt virii are marketing hype. Without AVP installed on our mail server, our network soon would be one giant and almost incurable mess, without massive client-side antivirus installfest. Klez.H's quite sophisticated distribution scheme (it infects every RW share on MS network (yes, we're running one)) plays really against our admins. One infected machine - and soon you're finding half of the network poised. Thanks God I'm running Linux:-)
Well, although your posting, as well as my comment, is somewhat offtopic - I have to say I agree with you completely. Here (in Russia) we felt IMF grip on our necks until recently, when Putin said "We don't need your help as well as your advises". It was akmost too late for us, but we've got another chance with country-targeted government, as opposed to Western-banks-pleasing Eltsin's govt. The biggest fraud in economical science is a belief that there are filanthropes amongst bankers and TNC CEOs.
Man, you're just plain wrong. Our http/mail/DB servers have quite a load throughout a day. Guess the uptime ? 102 days. (Definitely not a record, not even close, but I doubt your win box' LA is higher then our mail server's)
Hmm, nice. Remembering the history ? Then how many Africans did your predecessors killed in not so distant past ? And Indians ? How many quite peaceful indian tribes you, conquerors, destroyed when you fought your way to the west coast ? And what about being real Russian - yes, I'm real Russian. And your nation is ? American ? There's no such race. Period. White americans - it's just a mix of english, french, german, spanish and other european cultures. You have no native roots on your continent. You've flown from the atlantic. And, BTW, from Russia, too (San-Francisco was mostly a Russian town, back then). Just check archives, maybe, we have some common relatives ? Think about it.
Yaroslav, please. You've read too many fairy tales about Russia, probably. Just look at facts. Just do it - stupid exception from otherwise mostly nice nation.
Well, man (or woman ? I just can't believe real man could be that crazy . Or trans ? Are you ?). You're probably a loser, in all senses of this word. Just look around , look at other countries, and their citizens - I'm from Russia, I'm _really_ proud of it, and we got the man in space first, not your pile of bucks, as you probably could imagine. And we, commies (although I'm neither one, nor share their ideas) held the finger on the button for fourty years. (And still holding it there, in case you forgot). But nowhere in this world, except USA, and, probably, some muslim countries, I never met such a denial and hateness of other's right to exist and/or be happy. You're saying there in USA you're happier than I'm here, in Russia ? I'm laughing in your face then, dude. When I was reading your post, I was angry, but now - I have no other feelings than pity. Pity AC.
In short - that's why lots of people in the world hate USA. And I mean - HATE ! Probably no other nation in the world has succeeded so badly in it's own dumbness. That's why you've got 9/11. Good luck spreading rascist messages - you would be probably killed by "commie"'s or "chink"'s (or whoever you hate now) bullet, when you will fight for your "freedom". God is on our side, not yours
Well, ssh to your host, ps ax and search the parent of all sshd processes on this box. You will have some sshd's in ps listing. Locate one with lowest process ID, compare with/var/run/sshd.pid (or whatever your ssh daemon logs it's startup pid to), kill `cat/var/run/sshd.pid` (you probably know, what I mean), you will still have your session Ok, then restart your newly compiled sshd (/usr/sbin/sshd or where you have it installed). You will have your old ssh'ed session running, while port 22 is listened by new sshd. Check by ssh -l root localhost and see if all goes smoothly, then you could exit from all of your shells. Possibly stupid howto, but worked for me in the same situation.
You're just _going_ to win. You're nearly not there, despite your media/politics say to you. After all, USA teens will consume Afghan-made heroin, crack and weed, mostly, produced by USA-proposed Afghan government. Taliban strictly prohibited "henry/horse" production, due to Muslim laws, new Afghan govt is free of this religious regulations - and they need money, desperately - so new fields are seeded, daily. Think about it, when your neighbor's child will be found dead gripping a needle (see BBC story about similar case). Winners, eh...
Well, does it means we had to drop nuclear bombs on Afghanistan back there in 1980s ? They were capturing and executing our soldiers, lots of. We fought there almost ten years (1979-1989), while you screamed loudly about human rights, invasion and so on, supporting Taliban with firearms, military instructors and money. So, you're having what you paid for.
Yes. It IS an argument. Some object's price is meaningful only within given geopolitical aspect. $1200 for the tulip flower is certainly too high even for USA, but it was pretty ok(converted to gold equivalent) in Holland during 1600..1700 timeframe. $15-$20 for the DVD is (mostly) ok in USA, but hardly acceptible here in Russia. Well, just an example - Jagged Alliance 2 (one of my favourite games) originally was priced at $49 or like. Localized Russian version (localisation done by Buka, under agreement with Sir-Tech), costed about $2.50 for two disk set and about $3.50 for shrinkwrapped version. And since Buka released their version (perfectly legal) with a price competing with pirated copies (they were priced for $2) - there were no pirated JA2 versions on the market anymore. Just an example.
Well, subject says it all - welcome here. You're in recession - we had 5% GDP growth in 2001. You're surrounded with crappy laws - we're free, and we don't give a shit about this SSSCA/DMCA/whatever. Beautiful girls, living is cheap here, nice authentic nature - what else do you want from this life ? Feeling you're an American ?
Troll ? WTF ? This is the first time I'm suspicious about consciousness of the current moderator/AI level of moderating software. Or you're were just struck by 197K figure ? Again, WTF ? This guy deserves to be at least +3.
Well, I'm not a rocket scientist either, but...
1. Carrier is an old (and redesigned) submarine launched ballistic missile. I think, decision was made using parameters required to launch such type of cargo. And it's quite cheap - we have lots of these toys going off from duty due to expiration. Then, mobile platform (and nuclear sub is highly mobile:-) is a perfect patform for choosing needed direction of flight and landing point. Security is also may be a factor - you could very easily isolate new technology on sea, comparing with ground.
Sorry for bad English, I'm loosing sense of language when I'm drunk
As of now, RAM prices are dropping rapidly.
In the future, Rambus will bancrupt, SDRAM will
reighn in its DDR form, and prices will go down in general.

Hello !
Look at Russia . Russian coders are cheaper, and all around better. Trust me.
With all the best, yarick at relex dot ru

Lost a job ? Was late 1 hour ?
Are you sure there were Russians ? Are you absolutely sure there were not some greedy fat yankees ?
Wow. Funny. Thanks for a good laugh :-)
