You should patent this process while you still can, then you can charge royalties when anyone does it. We already know the patent office goes for this kind of stuff as long as we word it correctly so now is your chance.
now what I am curious about, is if napster charges $5 dollars a month, and 100,000,000 people decide not to use it anymore, how are they going to live up to their paying customers expectations? Are they going to run mp3 servers of their own?
You know once they start charging their wont be near the amount of variety thats on there now when all the people leave and noone is going to pay for 10 songs amongst three people.
just a thought
first day at sdsu I was informed by my english teacher/professor/whatever the hell their called that her lectures were her intellectual property and if anyone published them on the web (especially versity.com) she would file a lawsuit against the individual and give us an F.
welcome to college.
he was advertising in chat rooms and whatnot, thats like a drug dealer walking around screaming "Buy your drugs here!".
people like that usually deserve to get caught.
this contest sounds similar to a thing the LA Police dept did a while back. They invited a bunch of gangsters to come showcase their grafitti art and then arrested them when they matched the one on canvas with the ones on the street.
its kind of like the microsoft hack our 2k contest too.
these things are fishy.
The extra ip's are 6.95/month each.. I have 3 total.. what I'm wondering is if my cable line now has a max bandwith limit of 1.5 gigs per day upstream instead of just 500 megs a day.
Anyone know about this?
If we could moderate stories I'd give him score -1 flamebait or troll, come on, give us some reasons before you go bashing a candiate. But maybe you're right, after all, AL Gore did create the internet. lol
BUSH FOR PRESIDENT!
Reading their web site makes me really suspicious of this machine.. it has no cooling or anything yet claims to be 2.2 times faster than a pIII 800mhz while it's processor only runs at 450mhz.. i don't see how this is possible. I read the snippet about 128 bit data chunks but how much increase could that possibly make?
Ok, remember that part where the senator oozes through the bars? Magneto comes in and bends the bars apart so he can walk through but then rips the entire bar/window structure off the wall and it flies back towards the camera revealing a large hole in the wall. 2 shots later he bends the same bars that had been thrown across the room back together locking sabertooth outside. huge continuity error if you ask me.
Is it just me or does Senator Hatch tend to get things moving in congress alot? I admire his ability to cut through the crap and get things accomplished. It would seem as if the obvious solution for the music industry would be to adapt to changing times more quickly by offerring digital downloads for a small fee, I don't know why they just don't go ahead and do it. Mp3.com is a prime example of how easily it could work, just imagine mp3.com with a shopping cart.
There is certainly nothing new about these "web bugs" they've been around for quite a while for page stat tracking packages. The most they could possibly gather are the variables passed by the browser such as referrer etc. and your ip of course, but we all use proxies dont we? =) I guess the main thing to wonder is why doubleclick is doing it seeing as they can get the same info from their banner ads on the same pages.
I swear to god, lets just ban it all. And better yet, lets ban windows and doors on houses because after all, if someone breaks in they're probably going to use one of those methods. And get rid of doorknobs too..just to be safe.
I sent this in 2 days ago and it was rejected. ahh..geeks in love.. is she a geek? If she doesnt know at least one programming language get rid of her.
you know, you make a good point. I know a number of people who would sell their homes to go see either korn or metallica in concert but they never go on tours. I know I definately would pay 50-80 dollars for a good seat at any one of the above bands concerts. In fact, I'm going to warped tour This weekend. Live music is the wave of the future. sort of like how the academy is making people go to theatres. there's something to be said about a live performance.
It's not the same as putting on ski masks, I dont walk around with my ssn tatooed across my forehead. The reason why napster is having so many problems, I believe, is because it went mainstream and let any moron from any place get mp3's. Before it was just ftp sites and searches and on irc. When morons and idiots get ahold of powerful technology thats when companies (aghem RIAA) get scared. If napster had never been covered by the press none of this would have happened. You can see this by looking at the Lars interview.

I believe you could actually play the games on the dreamcast without using an emulator.

i believe those were my exact thoughts, "This is shitty for a razorfish site, I'd sue them too"
I say we go electric, we'll use nuclear power which is cheap and our lives will be better for it.

Burlee.com will shaft you in the ass no matter what you try to do to prevent it. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM.
I have similar problems, I find it hard to sleep without the noise of the fan in my room, if it goes off I wake up almost immediately.
no no lets get the asf rip!
lol.. sounds like a plan.
Very good point.
