I've seen a lot of posts about how to make paying more valuable. Well, since we are paying per page (which I assume means per page hit, which means per reload), then how about this idea:

Another user preference where you can choose to be emailed when a new story has been posted. This way we don't have to waste "pages" when reloading the front page for a new story or poll.

It's true that you can just "choose" to not have the main page count against you, but that still means that there will be a big fat add between each story.

My job is so boring that it practically kills me. Me and my coworkers get no respect. The management chain is like a barrel of monkeys. The list goes on, but I am just glad to say that it's almost over!

    Sir Korn,

What are your thoughts on the difference of speed in shells: sh, ksh, bash, mostly. I've always been taught to do any serious shell script in the bourne shell, which I do. It's feature-less-ness is great for speed and efficiency. Also, what are your thoughts on perl? Again, related to the speed of execution/interpretation.

Now I may only use sh to script, but I think that your shell is the most efficient for command-line usage. Once I started using ksh, I never touched csh again...

    Thanks for a great shell!

On a seperate note, I always just customise my bash shells to work like ksh. I've always been a fan of ksh, definately the best command line shell. Though, bourne shell is still the most efficient for scripting (Of shells, back off, perl-dudes!).

I was going to a community college taking general courses and then took the Unix 1 class at this college. That is where I met this man. After taking this class with him, I took all the other courses that he taught. Then, we did a lot of special projects together, directed studies and coaching, et cetera. I basically got all sorts of good excuses and credit to hang out with this really cool guy.

Now it's much later, and I'm accross the country, and I still talk to him a lot. I help him with problems on his systems, and he's a good friend. I definately couldn't imagine a better teacher. I've learned a lot from him.

    Thanks, Doc!
