IPCop is spun off of Smoothwall close to 5 years ago- I don't really have any complaints about smoothwall, but IPCop has a nicer look and feel to it as well as some enhanced features.
--No name Celeron firewall running IPCop --IBM Thinkpad a22m w/ Arch Linux --Dell 1750 running Gentoo doing Samba, Myth Server, Amanda Server (w/ lto 1 tape drive), apache/php, and a recipe database (mysql) --DIY in an Antec Aria as a Myth FE running Gentoo. --Toshiba ct3015 in the kitchen w/ freebsd running a front end for the recipe database --2 'Floater' desktop systems --1 'Floater' Laptop --Linksys G wap w/ sveasoft 'Freya' firmware. --Tying everything together is a Extreme Networks Summit24 10/100 switch (w/ 1g to the server). --Strictly speaking not in the house, but connected through wireless-- a 'dash pc' in my car.
The server can deal w/ lots more, so soon I'll be integrating a video alarm system and some home automation.
TekGear M1 wearable Heads Up Display Wrist-mount keyboard. Totally portable. The HUD supports 320x240 text mode for any standard console out (They sell higher-end ones for those of you running hi-res fb on your consoles).
It's possible-- We have Apache 2.0.48 servers running a custom handler and a chunky mod_perl app with 4 Gigs of ram and we never ever swap-- I add a 1 gig swap partition to the systems but as far as I can tell it's never been accessed on any of the systems..
Giving the cat it's own cables to chew on will show the cat that it's ok to chew cables.. My recommendations are as follows-
1- Sell the cat to a chinese restaurant (have them save the skin- Cat fur would make a nice pair of fuzzy slippers...)
or the recomended option-- 2- Go to a Pet's Mart and get this sour apple flavored goo they sell in a tube just for this purpose and apply some to any cables you don't want the cat to chew-- Works like a charm and if you really want to, you can still keep the cat.
Nah- I quit every once in a while to be sure-- Besides, in rethinking it I only drink maybe 2 quarts of vodka per week. What can I say, a vodka martini just goes perfectly with a nice Cohiba or Onyx double corona..
Dude-- It's the genes, not the drinks.. I drink easily a gallon+ (4 litres) of coffee daily and quite nearly that much vodka in a week with the assorted glass of wine and of course some single-malt scotch thrown in for good measure. I also never get sick.. Cold/flu season comes and goes and I always get through it unscathed.. Do yourself a favor; Pat yourself on the back that you got the 'not sick' gene and live a little- The stuff isn't poison.
In the original series, The cylon ships had 3 pilots.
On a more perverted note, if Baltar would have done number 6 doggie style, he'd have known right away that something was amiss with the glowing spine thing..
Bravo! The last thing the world needs is more people who claim to be DBA's or know sql simply because they've used Access but they can't tell you what referential integrity is. Start with the concept behind why relational databases are called that!
We leased 5 class C's and wanted to migrate to another carrier. What we essentially did was get a big line to the new carrier and downgraded the line to our old one to a 128k fractional T. That let us keep the leased addresses. Then we set up BGP to advertise our the addresses we were using directly and that let us move IP's at our convenience..

I think yes- There's bad flavors or Unix (imagine 95% of the world running AIX!- Ahhhhh!).
But seriously, an M$ unix as a base would have made a huge difference in the world today- Imagine a well written 32-bit OS, readily available, widely used, STABLE!, with none of the memory restrictions of the DOS world and Hundreds of easily installed applications. The computing world would be a very different place today, IMHO.

WinSCP, PuTTY, VNC and let's not forget the now free MS SFU (Services for Unix).
Makes it a little more comfortable in a strange sort of way.
