Posted on the Ubuntu servers it would be fine. But going into someone elses business and poaching employees is just not right. And in OSS the mailing lists are the "offices" of the distribution.
It's called headhunting, and it happens all the time. How many times have there been stories right here on Slashdot about how ABC, Corp. just hired so-and-so from XYZ, Inc.?
I don't see how this kind of replication of effort best serves the adoption of Linux on the desktop in the long run.
It serves in the same way having the Gnome project started after KDE was already around served. We have choice, which is one thing that makes Linux great.
Use GMail's pop access and have your mail program pull it down to your computer, GDS will then, obviously, index your gmail. This is what I do, and it works well.
Aren't the 4G iPods a couple mm thinner than the 3G iPods? If so, then gaining back a couple mm doesn't seem like to big a deal for what this one is reported to be.
I'm using a 3G iPod at the moment, and I feel it's at an almost perfect size, not too small and not too big. Add a color screen and photo capabilities and now you're talking (well not yet, that will come I'm sure).
"I don't see you calling for war against Israel to enforce UN sanctions."
You know, I don't see myself calling for any war. I don't personally believe in war. I never said whether I support this war or not, I simply stated a couple of factoids on the disclosure reports made by Iraq prior to the invasion.
As far as UN resolutions go, if they are going to make them, they need to enforce them, the first time, not two, three, or forty resolutions later.
The UN lacks balls. They need to shit or get off the pot, no matter what the resolution is or who it is aimed at.
Ummm, didn't you forget something? The reports that Iraq submitted did not show that they destroyed all the weapons they were known to have. Quite the contrary.
The UN did agree that there were unaccounted for weapons and chemicals. Why do you think there were 17 resolutions? The UN however, wanted to wait for the inspectors to find the weapons that were unaccounted for, while the US did not want to wait for 17 more resolutions.
Whether or not you support the war, please get the facts straight. Saddam failed to comply with any of the resolutions. The thousands of pages of reports further proved the UN's, not just the US's , assertions that Iraq had not proven through documentation that they had in fact destroyed all the weapons the UN knew they had from prior inspections.
If you are asking for a reason, then you probably already have your own reason.
Seriously though, there isn't really a reason, other than curiosity, or the desire to run a binary distro rather than a source distro.
I can tell you that I've been running Gentoo for almost two years, and had my system completely optimized, or so I thought. I recently switched to ubuntu and have noticed no performance hit, positive or negative. I do miss some portage tools, but I won't be switching back to Gentoo. I 'm sold on ubuntu.
"unless they are like me and would rather save the resources and do without a DE"
Is this really necessary anymore? I see this argument pop up all the time still. Last I checked, computers in general are getting so powerful that this hardly seems like a valid point.
Save the resources? It's been a few years since I've felt the need to stay away from a desktop environment for the sake of saving resources.
A lot of ATM's have been switched over to windows 2000. US Bankcorp's ATMs are all run win2k now. You'll know this when you too see the BSOD when you want to withdraw some cash for the weekend.
Of course this will happen. It's a good idea, but that isn't why it will happen.
It will happen because there is a LOT of money to be made from this.
It probably won't happen widescale until the applications we use generate and publish this data automatically, but rest assured, it will happen. It is in corporations best interest top begin phasing this into their applications at some point in time.
At least UT2004 shipped with linux support out of the box.
I have that nice shiny Doom3 box sitting on my shelf, purchased with the assurance from id that support for linux would be following closely on the heels of the retail release.:(
The votes were machine rejected. That means they did not count.
How difficult of a concept is that to understand?
Error prone or not, the votes were rejected, and Florida law would not allow those votes to be counted.
Are you suggesting the "error prone" voting machines suddenly developed a republican biased AI? Sweet... somebody call Marvin Mintsky, he can stop his research now, those Floridians beat him to it.
I believe they are. Space Shuttle? That's creative.
Isn't that kind of the purpose of Java, one way to do it, don't reinvent the wheel?
Generally, the company's #EMP-ALL Exchange distribution list isn't open to the general public.

He was atheist for a time, but eventually returned to christianity.
Works fine here, it is hardly OMG widespread.
"Foobar2000 + ColumnsUI gives you all the same features, with 1/4 the RAM usage."
Because RAM is in such short supply these days.
The pipes are getting fatter every year. It's only a matter of time.

With this many nay-sayers in the world, I'm surprised anything new is ever achieved.

'I always say "Having a lot of something is no excuse to waste it."'
That's funny, cause I always say "If you aren't using it, you're wasting it."

Civil law is ridiculous. There is a far less burden of proof on the prosecution to find the defendant guilty.
Case in point: OJ Simpson. Found innocent of murder in a criminal court, yet a civil court found him guilty enough to take all his money.

Actually, Firefox 0.10 seems to be rendering this site perfectly now.
Could just be a glitch though
You have links to back this up AC?

So.... novices would be better off using a browser that is highly susceptible to hijacking?
I'm not trying to troll here, but c'mon, novices are just fine. Firefox has great functionality out of the box, same as IE.
They both get the job done... for a novice.
