heh... just a wild thought.. they should fire Linus as the "Impartial Technical Advisor" he's the only public techie i've seen that really doesn't seem to care about microsoft eitherway (well much less than many others)
Well it seems logical to me that a guilty party should not be trusted to demonstrate what their product is or is not capable of. Though i fail to understand how you came to conclude that microsoft is the victim here. The government is simply wanting the oppertunity to verify, for them selves, microsoft's claims. Personaly i don't think you really hate microsoft as much as you should... in fact let's all get together and have a little "i hate microsoft session." (yes, this is a joke people)
Lawyers for the near extinct "Sith" are suing the "Jedi" religion for illegal and monopolistic manipulations of "the Force" that lead to a near total market control of "the Force" by said "Jedi" religion. The Sith Lawyers also claim that due to unfair and uncompetative practices, their "air supply was cut off." by illegal manipulations of the force by the Jedi.
A Quote from Darth Maul, executive Vice president of Sith LTD's "Reaquisition" division: "They claim to have total control of the force, but we had it first, until Yoda and his Ilk, almost wiped us out 1000 years ago."
you won't wind up with some desperate wench who's dragging along a ton of baggage
but if she has any taste whatsoever, what the hell would she see in me? other than that, great suggestion
heh.. just don't move to japan... one of the more techno-geek oriented countries, but they have two valentine's days so to speak...
they have effectively split v-day into two days: feb14th v-day, girls are supposed to buy stuff for the men in their lives (this even includes bosees and suches) and then march 14th is "white day" where the boys must recipricate (usually with something white)
ahhh.. marketing at it's greatest *sigh*
Personally, this is major droll material for me. I hope this technology comes to the consumer level by the time i'm ready to dish out money for another digital...
According to this article it says the first camera with this new sensor will be Sigma's SD9 SLR digital camera. No details on when, how much, what features. Anyone have more info on when this will be available? domo
ok i recant, what i said earlier... i guess i was the victim on headline sensationalism. i also let some personal misgivings i have about rms' repuation let myself get carried away with irritation.
my actual view on the situation is as long as miguel plays by the rules of the license then he should be free to do what ever he wants. even if he's wrong and everyone else in the world thinks he's wrong he can only realy hurt himself, since other people can still keep going with a "pure" gnome implementation.
maybe i should just stick to what i'm good at.. bad jokes.)
only if they can find a loophole somewhere
they are indirectly targeting wine, through the lindows suit. it wont stop wine, but it's attempting to bog down a potentially large supporter and marketer for wine
without getting into the big difference between violent crime and software ideology, the problem that those of us who critisize rms for see (imho) is this:
miguel says something to a reporter
it get sensationlized
rms starts sounding like he's on a private witch hunt for miguel unless miguel repents his sins
the problem is not finding girls... any idiot can be surrounded by girls if you have the right attitude... the problem (atleast for me) is finding girls who don't get on my nerves in a short period of time
Personally I'm inclined to agree with RMS, up to a point.
exactly to a point he's right, but at times he exceeds the practicality of the situation for what i think are unrealistic ideals... sure i don't trust any of those big companies either, but i think in this case migel should be allowed to say he thinks that another set of tools would make gnome run better... and since it is open source as long as he abides by the rules of it's license then he should be allowed to change the tool set (even if everyone else in the world thinks he's wrong)
maybe i'm misinterpreting his tone, but it almost sounds to me that rms is taking shoot migel unless he gies us a good alibi type of approach.
of course having people like rms around is a good thing, because the extreme left helps balance the extreme right (and we sure need alot more left sometimes in technology)
why not just put a laser on the thing and use it to paint targets for the hellfires launched from other platforms? i'm sure this helicopter is alot more expendable than an apache...
from what i know of the apache(let's hear it for "gunship" on the c-64 *cheer*)... it's a prety damned survivable helicopter... it'll fly with one engine dead and can auto-rotate(is that the correct term?) pretty safely even with no power... so in that case.. i'd rather have the rotors...
As such, RMS would rightly be opposed to such a statement.
well RMS would be opposed to ANYTHING that even remotely supports microsoft. while i don't really care for alot of things ms does, *insert flaimbait* sometimes i really think rms needs to take a reality pill. there are just simply sometimes when ms is the right tool for the job.*
personally i don't care for the fanical church like following of either camp, which is probably why i end up getting flamed by both sides
Stringfellow Hawk has not been reached for comment
untill this thing can go mach one and lift ernest borgnine, i really doubt stringfellow hawk will need to comment...
i don't know if you have the resources to do it (or even if you already do), but to keep this kind of misrepresentation in the future, maybe you could provide more data than aggregate sums?
a few suggestions i think would be usefull:
# of vulnerbilities that have not been patched
average time to patch a vulnerbility
number of local vs remote exploits
number of of exploits that are from included software packages and services (ie, wu-ftp, bind, etc.)
This is taken from the security focus site:
"For instance, applications for Linux and BSD are often grouped in as subcomponents with the operating systems that they are shipped with. For Windows, applications and subcomponents such as Explorer often have their own packages that are considered vulnerable or not vulnerable outside of Windows and therefore may not be included in the count. This may skew numbers."
It sounds to me like vulnerbilities on 3rd party apps included with linux distros are counted, but vulnerbilities in things like outlook, ie, and iss are not... i don't see how anyone who considers themselves a news organization can take , as serious data, any site which even says their numbers might be skewed...
it's been a while since i took a physics class, so i figured i wouldn't be able to explain it well.(
what i meant is that the cord will impart Centripital acceration on the anchor, which will want to fly away. if we balance the rock wanting to leave with the cord wanting it to stay then we have a happy family? i could be wrong, but it seemed to me the logical way to balance the weight of the rope...
i thought we were talking about things that might make a difference (mass wise) like larry's ego... even if you get rid of all the linux users i don't think it will make the earth as spacious as we get rid of elison/jobs/mcnealy/gates egos...
*picks up fire retardent suit*
