You are absolutely right. That is not fair at all. For a company to compete with another corporation that isn't playing by the rules they would need like $249 million in free money to help level the field. Oh wait...

Good advice, except you should find a new job, then quit. Better way to do it.

Minor pet peeve of mine... Between anorectic fashion models and overweight "accept me as I am" reactions to the fashion models, the "sensible middle" has been lost.

I was thinking the same. Doesn't the US have a huge, pun intended, obesity problem also? I don't know if we need less Photoshop or more. If we cure anorexia, think about how that will screw up our averages. We will be even fatter as a nation.

If you think about it part of the reason why the private sector is doing worse is because the public sector is doing better. Since the government doesn't produce wealth just consumes it, the private sector's wealth is being transferred to the public sector.

So when the government builds the interstate highway system or a new bridge, hiring contractors to do the actual paving, etc, that is not producing wealth? If that's just "transfer of wealth" in your book, then no activity private or public produces wealth.

He was generalizing, but now you are. Yes, the government provides infrastructure which helps produce wealth. His point is valid though that you don't spend more on support staff than the revenue you generate.

What is it with this fear that someone will make a buck? It does not diminish the value of the original work, rather it ads to it. The county should focus on what their job is and if somebody actually manages to create something valuable from that - great!

The government doesn't appreciate people generating a profit using their systems. It sets a bad precedent. Next thing you know, the people will expect them to run efficiently as well.

I agree. I don't want to pay the bill for 58 days of imprisonment. Kick him out of school and if you want more then fine him and give him community service. Don't have the community foot the bill. Have this guy repay society instead.

Yes, it is terrible that you can be held without trial in the US for being a terrorist suspect. What does that have to do with someone making racially insensitive comments on Twitter? It's way off topic and should be modded down.
