They probably don't know better. They probably shop on Amazon. They either found it on the homepage or clicked the first thing on the list after searching "tablet". Some others probably bought the Kindle e-ink readers and decided they wanted a upgrade so they bought the newest Kindle. I just hope in the long run someone continues to sell cheap e-ink readers. E-ink displays are vastly superior for reading purposes.
Another option is to make a locking mechanism that can only be unlocked when the plane has landed and the proper security codes have been activated. It's hard to get into the cockpit when even the pilot cannot let you in.
Whenever technology satisfies old demands, humanity tends to create new demands. Do you really think that people would be thinking about the latest smartphone, the new movie coming out, or a new social networking site if they had to spend almost all their waking hours farming in order to feed and clothe themselves? With every major change, stress is placed on society but eventually we adapt out of necessity. Like the wheel, society advances in cycles.
You forgot to mention that robots like Baxter and its replacement parts would probably be mass produced since its potential market is greater. That could easily bring the cost per robot down. Specialized robots require specialized parts and specialized expertise. Specialized stuff tends to cost more money.
I said most consumers. People who setup a home server with routing and firewall capabilities would probably not be in the "most" category I was talking about..
If an attacker is determined to get to your data, Most cloud storage vendors have better security than most consumers' local network/computer. That said, an attacker would more likely attack cloud storage than some random consumer's computer since the payoff is significantly bigger..
Even if they start successfully predicting individuals careers, wouldn't the system eventually break down since professors would probably change based on the results of the prediction?
Are the speeding cameras even talking video before their speed sensors are tripped? Even if they are, I assume the condition was put in place in order to get enough of the public to tolerate them that they could put them in place.
If you have a working space capsule to go with that story, you might get that money.
would add more exclamation marks, but Slashdot won't let me
Make it recursive.
What will those people do when Microsoft ends support in less than 2 years.
What do the studios record at?
This explains it:
Why? You get in and out before the cops show up.
If maximizing heat trumps everything else, why not just push the planet into the Sun?
I am guessing they were trying to lower system dependencies. The more parts you have (especially moving parts) the more chances for failure.

Those prototypes didn't work.
Maybe sensor data processing for robots?
Windows has the ability but I haven't heard anyone complain that a "geek" is needed to use Windows.
Why not just make it so that you can put the bar on whatever side of the screen that you want?
Isn't EEG sensing passive?

There isn't much market opportunity when the government tends to block newcomers.
Why do so many people assume there is competition in the ISP market in all locations?
What is the threshold needed to trip the camera? If you go 56 on a 55 do you get a ticket?

Another options is to wear a mask.
