  4. I've actually got one... on Backing Up 100 Gigs in an Hour? · · Score: 1

Well not mine, but I get to use it at work. It is an IBM Ultrium 3580. Each tape holds 100GB. The specs say it holds 200GB compressed, but all of my data was JPEG images, which I don't think can be compressed anymore. Depending on the server load, the times I have noticed are approximately 1hr 15min. per Gig. This is my best case scenario.

The data being backed up was coming off a EXP300 external RAID array (again, IBM), conencted via Ultra160 SCSI.

The only bad thing I can say about this drive is that we are on our second unit. A tape got jammed into the first one, and was destroyed in the process. IBM was good about getting a replacement here, however.

My Rogers service in Toronto has been laughable for the past 2 months. Hardly worth the ~$40 I am spending on it. But at the same time, I am not demanding 2+ Meg down constantly.

It's not like an American can buy services from Rogers in Canada. Rogers operates in Canadian dollars, and buys bandwidth in turn from Canadian providers.
