If you or anybody else wants to buy Torchlight because of their issues with D3, send a message to Activision/Blizzard by emailing or sending them your receipt for your purchase of Torchlight (or whatever else you spent your money on).
Not buying their product is one thing (they might just attribute it as a loss to piracy). Showing them that you had the money *and* inclination to buy something but instead bought a competitors product is a whole other thing.
Too bad you posted that anonymously... I will do this when I get home tonight because it will also indicate that not only did I have the money for their game, I got *four* copies of their competitor's game for the same price as their own. Bonus points for "their competitor" being developers that were originally a part of Blizzard.
But seriously, if company's can start pushing $20 games this good, I hope it sends a message to game developers everywhere.
This, one thousand times.
I bought a 4-pack of this for $60 from steam and gifted 3 of them to friends of mine. I haven't gotten this amount of enjoyment (including my friends' enjoyment) from $60 in a very long time, if ever.
I would love to see something like this become an industry trend. Companies that did this would garner extraordinary amounts of goodwill from the gaming community.
I currently work in this scenario with myself being the more knowledgeable programmer. While there is a bit of dictation from time to time, I always take the time afterwards to make sure my pair understands what was done and, more importantly, why. As time goes on, these dictations become fewer and farther between. If a pair is working primarily and continually from dictation, then they're doing it wrong.
You're possibly correct, but not because they'll be abandoning the PC; the PC is going away. Windows 8 and later will basically be turning software delivery on Windows into another Microsoft console platform. The platform is being locked down, and it will essentially become a Microsoft Store backed console. It's a big part of the reason why Valve is looking at Linux now with great interest.
What you say sounds exactly like what is being attempted. This would require large-scale adoption of the platform by the gamer community to have any significant or lasting effect on the PC gaming market. I have a difficult time believing that will happen. And, if it does, then we'll burn that bridge when we get there.
And, in the process, he'll feel inexplicable urges to feel "Zest(tm) fully clean!" as well as to stock up on "Bounty(tm), the quicker picker upper!". This should make him a wonderful contributor to the economy as well as being fully sane. Double win!
Agreed that one can't have it both ways, but there are far more than enough of "us" that some want it one way and some want it the other way, so either way we're going to have peoples coming on the internets complaining that it was the wrong decision.
The only way to be sure that any software around these devices are secure is to compile it yourself after analyzing the source code. Bonus points for writing the source code yourself.
Not entirely telepathy, IMO. It still requires actual speech. It's functionally equivalent to telepathy in that another person knows what you intended to convey, but the requirement of actual physical speech brings it back over the line.
There's also zero proof that no one else has hacked into the PSN. Lack of evidence for an argument doesn't mean that the opposing argument will be true.
It's easier for me to take this stance, though. I dropped Sony many years ago for other unrelated ass-hattery, so I don't need to worry about any of this. The sooner everyone else drops them, the sooner they can sleep a little easier knowing that Sony can't hurt them any more.
...But Anonymous is stealing credit card info for YOUR benefit!...
Where does TFA state that? Anonymous didn't mention anything about credit card info that I was able to see. Maybe its been modified in the time between when you read TFA and when I read TFA. Oh... wait...
In other words, Vegas is Vegas. The businesses/city already tried a giant shift away from sex; it failed, so why would they try again?
Oh, I don't know... maybe to show that they really have an interest in doing so and that their first attempt wasn't just for show? The Wright brothers didn't give up on their first failed attempt to fly. I didn't stop coding because the first program I wrote was riddled with syntax errors.
Sex sells. Period. The internet itself is all the proof anyone needs, although advertising (especially with cars/motorcycles) is strong confirmation. They* know this. They* bank on this. Anything relating to cleaning up Vegas's image is nothing but lip service intended to make it "look" less shady than it actually is.
(* = "They" are the higher-ups of the businesses. The ones that actually make more money if their businesses make more money.)
That's my biggest gripe right there - if I'm going to have ads, I'm sure as hell not going to pay for them. Ads on the internet are a bit different, though - they aren't as intrusive (usually!) and I can choose to not frequent sites that are slathered in them. I pay for my internet account, so "technically" I'm paying for ads, but I don't feel that it's the same thing.
I almost got suspended for using this on our high school's DOS machine around '90-'91: prompt $e[1;31;40m-$e[0;33;40m=$e[1;33;40m$p$g
(typos may be present - it's been ~2 decades since I've used this!)
Of course, this won't work now - windows hasn't loaded ANSI.sys for quite some time that I'm aware of. It was good fun at the time though, especially when others were in awe that I was able to get a multi-colored DOS prompt.

That made me laugh, so I bought one of their shirts. It wasn't optimized at all, though, so I can't wear it to work.
+1 Pro-reference
This is very accurate in my experience. We try to keep our pairs Sr./Jr. for exactly this reason.

League of Legends begs to differ with your opinion. :)

Just wait, we'll all find out when the time is right, I'm sure.

... Legally the time is 10 days but many ISPs (including youtube) restore immediately.
Being slightly pedantic here, but Youtube is an ISP??
I've seen a sig floating around /. that goes something like...

I'm seriously tempted to run with this...
