If you can wait a few months Perhaps the Motorola Atrix is just what you are looking for. It doesn't have a physical keyboard attached but comes with a dock that looks like a netbook with full keyboard and LCD. It has a dual core processor and a desktop like interface when docked.
I'd like to agree with you but with all the U-Verse subscribers in the US (I is one) and similar service in Canada and abroad they have a pretty large footprint even if we don't know about it. I recently added MediaRoom to my Xbox 360 and can connect it just like any other set top box. The media companies know that they can depend on Microsoft to be anal about DRM so they are more likely to embrace an MS based solution. They have been late to the party many times in the past only to become the dominating force.
To make a non car analogy to what you are saying. It's like Paul Allen is Worf trying to clear his father's name and the Court, who is like the Klingon High Council, convinces him to accept his father's guilt because the criminal's (Google, MS, Apple, Facebook, et al), who are like Duras, family has become so powerful that exposing his crimes now would cause great political upheaval in the empire.
Yeah, I can kinda see that except Worf in this case is evil.
Teacher: I'm sorry I am going to have to fail most of you for cheating. Students: But we didn't cheat! Teacher: Then how do you explain how so many of you came to the same conclusion that 2+2=4?
How about a Fat client that has the utility of a Thin client? I have worked with a blade network from ClearCube where all of the "Desktops" are blades in a 2U rack backplane. Depending on your specific needs they support KVM Extension, RDP, PC-over-IP, PC-over-Ethernet and VDI. With PC-over-Ethernet they even support 4 Monitors at the desk utilizing an Nvidia Workstation graphics chipset. The backplane allows the admin to reroute each PC to a different location on the fly. Should one PC fail the automated backup restore feature makes a crashed HDD a minor inconvenience rather than a devastating event.
Heh, they have everyone snookered into trying to figure this place out so they won't be trying to get the inside scoop on the latest iPad/iPhone/iwhatever device update. They also have all of the Apple engineers sequestered until July.
Perhaps you were unaware that it is already happening but not the way you might think. Are you familiar with ESPN 3? ESPN has worked deals with certain ISPs to offer the service and if you don't subscribe to an ISP that has signed up with ESPN you can't get access to it. It's the first step in turning the internet into the new cable. Large ISPs like Comcast are also pushing to charge more for high volume sites like Google. The only problem with that is Google is already paying for the bandwidth they are using. Comcast wants to get a cut of the ad revenue Google takes in from their ad sales.
A wired connection requires a physical cable to be run to a specific location through the floor or ceiling and if the decision is made to rearrange the cubicles it adds thousands of dollars in rewiring. WiFi eliminates this requirement but necessitates an extra FCC license for every connection driving up the cost of the equipment. I suspect this would initially bypass the FCC as it does not use the RF spectrum. That's not to say at some point the feds won't decide they own the flickering light spectrum as well and start regulating it down the road. That's the only benefit I can see from this just glancing at it.
You've hit the nail on the head but failed to realize that this is probably EXACTLY how real humans would act in this situation. It's like a fiction reality show. Don't tell me you have never been faced with a situation where you had a right and wrong decision and you chose the wrong decision for personal/emotional reasons. Smokers do this every day. Hell I'd beat the snot out of Rush myself on a regular basis just for recreation. I must admit I was off-put by the first season but the recent episodes are starting to gel better and they actually have a "mission" even if it is chasing after ancient static noise. I think they should give it at least one more season to flesh out all of the plot elements they've set in motion to see if they can improve viewership. I mean are there actually that many people watching these ghost shows?
The new ATT is actually Southwestern Bell or SBC Communications? They basically made several power plays over the last decade and slowly but surely swallowed up all the other bells and eventually the original ATT. They simply decided to use the existing brand recognition ATT already had.
Except for the fact that before the advent of the twentieth century there was no way to record a performance for later playback. This meant that a performer only got paid for the performance when they actually performed. If I build a cabinet for someone I am not entitled to come back every time they use the cabinet and demand a usage payment. If I fix a PC problem the customer is not beholden to pay me in perpetuity for the fix. The only reason the RIAA exists at all is for the benefit of the recording companies. Recordings were originally an advertisement to get people to attend concerts so basically what the RIAA and the government is saying is you now have to pay for ads. Sure it's a little trickier with movies but even on copyright for video it should not be perpetual.

So I am guessing that didn't include time at Oracle?

b) the fear that something that works for you might get packaged as a product for the masses.
You mean like PlayOn
If an AC endorsing a product doesn't give you pause then you are a brave soul indeed.
I think someone is running a bot on /.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Add Lithium, Xanax, and Prozac to the Decaff.
Don't tell me...You all used main() as the start of your program didn't you? tsk, tsk
Two words...
Try Decaff

What the hell are they putting in your water?
I don't know about Michigan but in Houston they put Alpha Radiation in the water.
Quite frankly none of the characters are likable.
AW COME ON! You can't tell me you don't like Greer

But doesn't it raise anti-trust concerns?
Couldn't this "consortium" of patent holders be construed as limiting to a new player or a common "Google"?

So...what's the code they were using anyway? Just curious....
Yes, because being accused of having sex with multiple sexy blond Swedish women is just as enjoyable as having actually HAD said sex...NOT!
How long before this is used for nefarious purposes?"
