    there is a REASON why they call it "re-inventing the wheel' because that is EXACTLY what it is, its wasting time and effort doing something that a billion before you have already done

    So, because the wheel has already been invented you think I should just start assembling cars and never learn about the intricacies of the wheel. The first text editor I wrote was a total mess. The second one was better. The last one I wrote was almost usable :p and all of them have given me valuable experience. Experience I hope to use for more than just text editors... Did it occur to you that those 50 text editors were also steps in a journey allong the way to more complex projects, there are plenty of languages that could use a good IDE and a text editor is a good start.

    Android: You have open access to the actual source code all the way to the metal and no restrictions writing any manner of apps.

    I say this as an Android developer, and an Android developer who has _never_ writen an app that even uses the NDK, let alone is concerned with bare metal... but I'm sure that "all the way to the metal" is a bit misleading as the drivers (esp graphics, network) use binary blobs. This is a problem for the Replicant ppls who are trying to build the "to the metal" openness you mention.

    ... seemingly every other keyboard lacks are tab and arrow keys...

    Can't help you on arrow keys ... but with swype (and i think the original kb) long pressing the space key gives you a tab, only took me two years to stumble upon that one (and at a very inconvenient time too mind you).

    Just as on a PC: The only way to guarantee an infection is gone (without hours of work) is a full OS install from scratch... Pull yourself out of the kiddy pool, root your device and flash a brand new rom that will probably run _faster_ than the original phone. You could then also run a good firewall if you wanted :]

    You sound like you know what your talking about, but from the TP article: "Yahoo officials said that they are in the process of publishing a new, repaired extension".

    I don't think Yahoo would be admitting blame or Google revoking keys in Chrome if the key was not significant.

    You poor creature... I think if I had an iPhone like that I'd not use the web much either. On Android there are half a dozen quality (and hundreds of crap) alternative browsers. Some of them address the exact problem you are stating.

    So Sebastopol I thank you for reminding me why I don't want an iPhone (like I'd forgotten) :D
