...and just how many of these "good parents" are still good parents when their kids grow up into teenagers with trust issues. Seriously, I probably have totally flipped if my parents had spied on me, but as it is we actually get along quite well.
Thats not fragmentation, that's just a damn small screen... ever try opening Gimp/Photoshop on a first gen notebook? It's craptacularly impossible to use, not even a single pane fits in the screen and there are 3+ of them, that does not mean PCs are fragmented. Just as on the PC you could code it to suit all screen sizes... but it's a hell of a lot of work!
Maybe you have sweet hardware... but are you sure it's not just powering up from standby-mode. People say this about phones too now days, but if you completly power them down it takes a lot longer.
I can see the FBI adds now: "You wouldn't grow a car in your backyard... Friends don't let friends grow DVDs... Yet these _criminals_ dare deprive farmers of their rightful income".
Second that, the only reason I have Oracles Java on my machines is because it was a requirement for Android/App-Inventor. I find it funny that Oracle is suing Google over the very reason that me and hundreds (I'm assuming) if not thousands of other developers have Java installed and in use every day. Way to shoot the community in the foot *again* Oracle.
As someone who uses AIDE (Android IDE) sometimes partially because it is just a million times easier to deal with than eclipse. I use it (on a hobbiest level albeit) to develop on the go "away from [any kind of] modern conveniences like [chairs, powerpoints, lights, pens] desks and [any] monitors" such as while camping and visiting friends. I'm looking forward to this, I have been for a long time.
So... I take it your not going to install the mute/sleep/shutdown options? I will be.
Aditionally, I take my phone(s) to work every day. In the last year I've forgotten it(or them) maybe twice. Both times it has annoyed me all day. the other 363.25 days I don't recall regretting bringing it once. Maybe it's just me.
Get used to it:) the trials only beginning... then there is always the appeals... It's going to be never ending, I'm going to check back in about October and see how it's all cooking.
We don't use software in here, the whole thing is run like a commune and we spend most of our days reciting verses from the Telecommunications Act 1997 and warming our hands against the golden light and life giving heat emanating from Mr. Conroys most sacred pancreas.
You have to pay Apple $99 and hope that they will allow you to use it. You can't simply install it on your handset.
(Yes I know you can install software on your handset as a developer, but it still costs $99 and only lasts for 120 days. Exerting control over users for self-serving purposes is actually unethical, IMO.)
Ok. but I'm still with AC above, I'd even go further and just say "I can modify it and post my own version" (who cares where you can post it). I'm quite sure no one who has licensed their code GPL would begrudge someone for being stuck in a hideous ecosystem (laugh at them yes, pity maybe). Yes apples "Walled Garden"(tm) is unethical but within that horrible place a developer can strive to achieve the same effective rights. Apart from the restrictions imposed by Apple I'm actually quite impressed how well some developers have achieved this in practice.

I actually know people that do that, particularly with PC games.
I seriously wish people would stop supporting companies that utilize DRM.
Me too, the correct process is: Buy DRM game in store. Go home and start download. Return DRM game in box to store. Complain about it loudly while you are there (you will feel stupid). Then return home to the version you can actually use.
I'll third that. I was appalled with the editors attitude to paswords.
1. He uses all lower case letters [FAIL - you know the rules you work at PCP]
2. He was shocked one of his services had woken up and hardened its password policy [FAIL - you should be encouraging this kind of behaviour, not dissing it - I'm pissed when I'm _not_ allowed to use special characters]
3. He obviously has no password managment plans [FAIL - If I had to replace every single one of my passwords today it would be a hasstle but there would be no chance of me not being able to recover accounts the next day]
I feel less inteligent after having read this article... help me!
I was hoping TFA might mention if any company offers bounties to non-US countries. I couldn't find any last time I checked (admittedly a year or so ago)... does anyone know of any now?

Australian Bureau of Comfusions great! ... Can we keep that one?
ABC => Australian Broadcasting Corp... I think it's close to your NPR content wise but is funded by the Govt.

Civil libertarians... We have them do we? ... Since when?

I like it, but maybe: I am writing a RTOS in Javascript and using the DOM as a file system ;)
Oh, and get with the times: ditch JavaScript and go CoffeeScript.

I ran the demo software a while ago and I'm pretty sure you can. I don't think it was bash but there was some *sh, csh maybe.

Yeah. I think this is the first thing he's said all year that has not made me cringe... Still, you gotta celebrate the victories, however few.

After Effects clone we use at work (I work at a TV station) is absolutely stunning.
Minimalist design aesthetics eh?
Simple UI no?

Wow... you shoud submit this to Slashdot ;)
Gold!!!
I once wrote a program like that ...
Seems I haven't been paying attention for a while, thanks for the update :D

Did you even RTA? and your going to do this EVERY time you type sensitive data?
If so, try reading this one: http://gcn.com/articles/2011/10/18/smart-phone-sensors-steal-keystrokes.aspx
