I have no intention of buying or even really trying it, but as a big WoW fan, I hope it does well. Competition, or at least, the fear of competition from this and AoC appear to have made Blizzard make some really nice changes to the game. I'd love for Blizzard to have an active and large competitor.
So, while I'm sticking with WoW, because I love my pally and have been playing Warcraft series games since around 94 or 95, I hope it does well, people have fun playing it, and the WAR team comes up with some good ideas for Blizzard to copy.:)
They've also posted numerous (around 30), videos of Stephane Dion talking in parliament, giving speeches etc, as well as some anti-Conservative videos. It's rather unlikely that whoever it is doesn't support the Liberal Party.
Here in Canada, someone either supporting, or associated with the opposition Liberal Party is apparently using copyright claims to remove pro-Conservative Party videos:
What happened up there? The temperature just dropped about 900 degrees, I think it starting to snow, and I could have sworn I saw a pig fly by my window...
My worst computer accident was when I dropped my PowerBook at school. I had a presentation that day, with the PPT slideshow on my PowerBook, and when take it out of the case, I was surprised to find it off, but I still plugged it into the projector, and turned it on. And I get the Happy Mac, followed by... a blinking question mark on a disk. Never a good sign. It turned out I had killed my hard drive and needed to buy a new one. It was a bit disturbing seeing the question mark of doom projected up onto where my slideshow should've been.
Thankfully, I had backed up my slideshow, and lost nothing of it, and my teacher let me present it later, with no penalty.
If it does slowly melt like the article implies, it would be rather neat to download and save the photo everyday and create a time-lapse video of it melting... If it actually does...
Heh, that is one of the funnier things I've read on Slashdot in a while, especially as recently I've practically been that crazy-eyed bandit with my PowerBook.:)
So because Warez isn't as important as Al-Q in your mind, laws against it shouldn't be enforced? Where do you draw this enforcement line? At burglery? Murder? Tax evasion?
There are laws against warez. Period. Putting this in YRO is stupid. Your only "right" being violated is the right to illegally give away software for free.
So true. All these posts going "OMG! Maybe they haven't tried broadband! WTF?" And few people considering that others may live in rural areas. Despite what some people think, not everyone lives in a big city. If it was avaliable, I would pay for broadband. But it isn't.
All I really lose are fast downloads and the ability to host my own website. On the plus side, I live in a nice, crime free, pollution free area, with a huge yard, a huge house, a pool, and a forest behind my house. I think it is worth it. 56k isn't that bad.
That, sir, is the single stupidest thing I have ever read on Slashdot, far exceeding the GNAA trolls. I would like a full explanation as to how operating a pornography business is the same as being black, and how anyone opposed to pornography, but not blacks, is a hypocrite.
It looks like you just took the word pornography and replaced it with a random politically correct word in a vain hope to try to associate the struggle to sell pornography with the struggle for equal rights. That, sir, spits on the grave of anyone who ever tried to stick up for their rights.
Maybe next time somebody posts some anti-spam rant, maybe I should replace the word spammer with the word black to show how those poor spammers are only trying to struggle for equal rights. Maybe I'll even get moderated up to +5. But seeing as how most/.ers like pornography, but not spam, probably not.
I am not mistaking the lack of product for a demand. When I went to the second store, I specifically asked an employee if they had any, and he said that they had all their shipments had sold out since Nintendo lowered the price. Likewise, when I went to my local Zellers to see what games they had, and found they were sold out, I was not the only one doing so. In my short (5-10 min) period of time there, three (3) other groups of people came looking for GCN games, and also left empty handed. Only one group each came to look at the Xbox and PS2 titles, and the kid who looked at the PS2 titles was mistaken, and really had an Xbox (after he realized this, he sort of looked foolish and disappeared). Likewise, when I bought Super Mario Sunshine at Wal-Mart, at the same time another set of people came and also bought GCN games.
This is all anecdotal experience, but from that experience I got the general impression that the GameCube had become rather popular recently.
About a month and an half ago I decided to buy a GameCube. The first store I went to was sold out of several of the games I wanted, but had a few Cubes. The second store had no Cubes, and only one copy of Super Smash Bros Melee. Both were sold out of Nintendo Memory Cards, so I had to settle for a crappy 3rd party card. I ended up buying the lone copy of SSBM from store #2, and my Cube, memory card, and 2nd controller from #1.
A week later I go to buy more games. All the stores in my town were sold out of good GameCube games, yet were mostly full of PS2 and full of Xbox games. I ended up having to buy my games at an out of town Wal-Mart, the only place that wasn't sold out of good GCN games.
Additionally, while looking for my GCN games, I saw about 3 other parties come, and leave empty handed, which was more than I saw buying PS2 games.
In my area, at least, it sure seems demand for GameCubes shot up.
Bah! You got to use your TEETH?! Back in my day, I had to roll each bit up the side of a mountain, in 5 feet of snow, with my NOSE! And those were only the good days. And we didn't get an hour off each day like you young whippersnappers!
I'm a devout muslim, and I don't obsess about death. I just want to make the most of my life, and not waste it with alcohol, drugs, fornication, adultery, etc. And I do not fear death, as I know Allah is all-just.
I just get saddend when people show so little compassion. Many of the kids at my high school laugh when I tell them about the atrocites Israel is comitting against the Palestinians, or vice versa.
But the guy probably didn't want to die. He was unemployed, and probably depressed. He probably wandered in their in hopes of happiness, got "zoned", and didn't see any reason to leave, as he thought he was having fun. I've been like that, only to a much lesser degree. I'm always very happy when my parents kick me off my computer, and I do something productive with my life, instead of wasting it.
If I ever get into a state like this poor man was (God forbid), then I would be extremly happy if anyone shut my machine down on me and kicked me off. I would thank God, whoever kicked me off, and really look at how pathetic I was, and try to change.
I should hope no one wants to die addicted to a computer game.
When I saw the article, I knew everyone would be making jokes. A little over a year ago I would've too. A year ago I was just like most of these people, playing FPSs and laughing at the Darwin Awards. However, in the last year I've given up FPSs, and most other violent stuff, and actually cared about people. Although I doubt there's a big link between violence and FPSs, there does seem to be a link between compassion and FPSs.
My experience, and what I observe, seems to support this. Most of the people I know who play FPSs laugh at Palestinian deaths and other violence, while those who care, hate FPSs. This doesn't mean that FPSs make people incompassionate, there just seems to be a link. The compassionate people may just not play FPSs because they hate violence and death on prinicple.
I already replied to an AC asking the same question, but just to sum it up:
When people don't care about the deaths of others, wars, genocides and murders occur. Do you think Hitler cared about the Jews he killed? Or the Russians that were killed by his army?
You should care about everyone who is killed. Every death is a tradgedy.
Bah, all that star talk mumbo-jumbo. We all know what really happened.
A bunch of aliens just created the Hulk.

Although I'm a Tory myself, it wouldn't suprise me at all to see a Conservative or Dipper engage in the same behaviour.

Works "fine" on my PowerBook running 10.2.8.

Could somebody explain what an SMB market is? The first thing that popped into my mind was Super Mario Brothers market, but that can't be right. :)

Good question! I'd also like to know how much of the content is redundant.

You don't seem to belive in life after death, but how would you feel knowing that after you died, no one would care?
