for same reason we need a third party and third major desktop OS. a duopoly of control of anything is bad it encourages non conformance to standards and is bad for consumers. a third option alway insures that two "competitors" cant simply collude to screw the consumers because they will simply flee to the third option, also it breaks strong partisan ship that we can see in American politics where nothing changes because we only have two options that refuse to compromise and have extreme NIH syndrome.
that all said is Microsoft the best party for a third option in the mobile arena? Hell No. (in will smith voice:-) ) I would rather a (possibly gnu)Linux based, would settle for rim, or symbion though.
yes they do. i have grown plants under florescent lights since i was a kid usually just to start the plants then transplant them outside in the spring but they can be grown entirely indoors and sequestered away from the sun if you so desire.
It could still have x86 code in the rendering engine? I do wonder and I was shocked to see it on the mac last year. But even then there are no good opengl drivers for Linux. Nvidia is the only semi stable one and it is not professional grade like the Windows ones are. I doubt they want to support ATI users.
I agree with Autodesk that Linux is not worth the effort. Not enough users and they do not pay for software.
In my experience OpenGL is fine on Linux but then again I haven't tried anything on that level, but as to you comment on Linux users not paying for software Redhat Oracle and IBM would beg to differ with you on that, while it may be that they way in the consumer space but when it comes to business level stuff Linux users are generally pretty good on paying for software when its better then the open alternatives
well if they have a Mac port then it isn't all win32 api's as Mac is lacking them unless it is using wine libraries internally that is. but assuming it is a complete Mac port not a wine cheat then a Linux port should be fairly straight forward.
the platform is perfectly secure you simply granted access to things you shouldn't it like saying that prisons are incapable of keeping felons from escaping, after you handed each prisoner a master key and told the wardens to let them leave.
the problem lies with the developers for demanding to many permissions and the user for granting them
thats only because they are still producing more in that universe once the comicbook movie fad ends the will be locked up as tight as any other Disney classic only available for a limited time title on limited edition collection. Won't be aproblem though all you will have to do is go to your freindly neighborhood torrent site and have the entire collection with each eddition
fat binaries arn't needed unless you are selling via physical media, if you are distributing via download you can use a simply architecture or version check and download the proper binary. if you have fat binaries you will quickly hit data caps on current mobile data plans.
maybe if the alternative weren't broken by design or performed as well as the free and legal everywhere else in th fucking world but the USA, (where we have the media cartels buying laws in bulk by paying senators with cushy high pay jobs after they kill their political career to f us over even harder [cough cough Chris SOPA Dodd cough].)
hmm when ever i have used a google product android devices chrome etc one of the first things it asks is which search provider i would perfer and list several bing yahoo google ask duck duck go and others when i signed up for other services it works with my other email, if you don't want to hand them you online life you could simply use someone else i bet you will come back though, and not because of vender lock but becuase others services are inferior (with the exception of social) or simply don't exist. It is not a crime to be the the best.
because they do not own a monopoly on the pc market, and they don't abuse that monopoly to get another monopoly so as to vender lock the world. fortunately it backfired on M$ to a degree because not only were people vendor locked but version locked leading to xp and ie6 still having a huge portion of the market over 10 years after their release and making people realize that ms software is crappy. and that open source or at least standard compliant is the best.
no it fits survival of the fittest, the fit live the weak die or are killed. natural selection is the force killing of bad genes but their is the nastier side to nature as well.
agreed i have watched all of the movies and all of the shows (actually didn't care for the original series as much) and while startrek (Abrams) was not the best (first contact was, fallowed by insurrection). but it definitely wasn't the worst (star trek the motion picture was)
Well I for one love the game and it and Halo2 for windows are the only reasons I still have a windows seven partition on my laptop. I will seriously expanding my linux partition and deleting the windows one when it is released

The waste water will have lots of sulfur, but that also occurs naturally.
so? oil, arsenic, and mercury, and various radioactive elements are all natural to. just remember natural != good.
annoying
