don't worry eventually the tech guy will be allowed to install office onto a xp virtual machine that will only have office on it and save to a shared folder and maybe several years down the line install libre office on the host and the problem will go away.
there is the kernel team then there are distro devs its the job of the distro guys to pick out which kernels and which hardware they will support in their distro. (unless use you like gentoo linux or linux from scratch then you the user are responsible for that and the distro guys are more of a source code repository maintainer.)
Is it really that hard to say no? if they through a fit either ignore them to show that their fit won't help or punish them them for it depending on the severity of their actions. thats what my parents did and we barley ever ate out. my mom always said it was cheaper to eat that lunches she made at home so he would eat that no fast food. she would also keep small healthy snacks in her purse and in the car. if We were whining for fast food she ask us is we wanted an apple we would usualy say no and then she would say then your not really hungry and proceed to ignore punish.

Don't worry its about to pick up with windows 8 requiring a Microsoft email account and having bing built in along with integrated skydrive and Microsoft office (web version) zune music service, xbox live, and every possible windows live component they can cram into it. They will have absolutely enormous usage even if windows 8 is a flop because it will ship by default on so may computers.
if we put them on metal someone will come along and melt them down and make a cooking pot or frying pan out of them. never under estimate the the ability of anyone to not give a crap about history and knowledge. what you need is a Indiana Jones like temple/datacenter/library that will kill anyone not very determined to get at what the ancients left behind built in a geographically stable area that will anything sort of a direct extinction level meteor strike. fill it with books to teach them basic english and then books to teach computer design and programming and the function/use of all of the equipment contained inside give them the language specifications for every programing language used, along with all of source code for the compliers as a reference. fill it to the brim with as much as you can to communicate how to use your acrival media
well they are showing up where i live. the other day I realized I had forgot my lunch on the counter at home so pulled into a Wendys to get a burger for, and saw that they had electric car charger in their parking lot. a few day latter i was driving to portland and pulled over at a rest stop and saw they had an electric car charging station next to the public restrooms. I have seen a few others lately they are starting to be enough of them that I would not mind driving a electric car if they are giving away free charging.
Umm that was meant to be joke. Although I do have a professor that as a retired programmer recommends stripping out all comment from code and replacing them with subtly changed ones that all indicates variables do the exact opposite of what they do and to obfuscate as much (non open source code there he considers it a douchy thing to do)as possible so that you become to valuable to fire because if your gone they can't hire you to write the code and then fire you and have someone cheaper replace and simply maintain and use your code.
its called job security make it as nonobvious and convoluted as possible so that your the only person that can comprehend it, that way your unfireable because it will fall apart when you leave.
because that would mean absolutly every one would have everything not only in the cloud (a horible idea) but in one cloud security and stability nightamare. one bomb could kill the internet. but if they do build your suggestion they need to name it the multivac
i believe that most pc vertualization systems now at least have hardware accelerated graphics for OpenGL when running on top of the same host OS and I have seen direct X hardware acceleration on windows host with windows guests and VMWare promises it on VMWare fusion for mac but I haven't tried it out because i dont want to pay for a mac, a virtualization solution and a windows licenses just to try out one feature, if only they would port fusion to Linux. Also virtualbox has an unstable wine based direct 3d patch. but back to the point it is not impossible to get all of the unity crap on a vm you just have to futz with it for longer then it worth to simply play with a kludgey interface.
yes there is you vote with your dollars. don't like walmart for example, convince enough people stop buying their stuff and they will go out of business. If you cant then you obviously have a minority opinion and democracy is a majority rule system. People may say they hate them but if they go out and buy from them anyway then they don't really hate them its just what they like to think should be said, either to make them popular or fit in or any of a dozen possible reasons.
I hope that is easily expandable via plug-ins much like their browser. Don't want a web app to have access to something just disable that with appblock plus. wan't to kill the comic sans font from apps just install comic sans remover plugin. But since it is all browser based will how will app writers not have costumers simply copy the page source for the HTML (presumably a extended version of five) CSS and JavaScript? And what advantage will this have when all of their apps will be usable by everyone else (being web app runing in a browser) but not vis versa(native apps)? aren't the people already realizing web apps where a bad idea already like facebook saying that it was a bad move and switching back to a native app? they will have to work on some native apps even Google has realized that and is working on running native code on ChromeOS another browser as a OS implementation. How will it do with out flash will Mozilla finally relent and use the pepper api even just as an optional plugin? what about audio and vidio codex on my pc it gets them from vlc on my linux box and windows media player and vlc on my windows box who will provide them on the firefox mobile os since they seem to have funny ideas about what codex should be the standard.
Seriously though bbqing i will throw on a steak/chicken breast/hamburger and a veggie dog, works out fine. I would probably eat more veggie meat than i already do if it were closer in price to real meat.
not only nonstandard but they give the symbol the exact opposite meaning it normally has, of course it makes since for MS to have things back ass halfword from the rest of the universe
they also sell droid based units what is going on here is they don't want to sell a platform made entirely to act as a store front (that happens to also be able to play angry birds) for their on-line competitor. Apple doesn't sell anything but computers tablets phones and music players and digital downloads. wallmart sells everything so does amazon. All this will do is get amazon to sell the kindle, kindlefire at radioshacks and insert_mobile_service_provider_here store and staples.
that is why smart people invented sperm/egg banks they can have their genes spread across a potentially huge population. if you really want to spread your genes make multiple donation as many sperm banks as possible across as large a geographical area as possible.
even in xenophobic tribal societies genes cross between populations. one tribe go to war with another and steal the other women mixing their genes. the strong members of the winning tribe would get the best looking stolen mateof the losing mixing the best genes of their populations.
My mother is allergic to most meat and my Dad grew up vegetarian but eats meat now so I grew up eating a mix of meat and veggie substitutes. As for vegetarians not getting enough nutrients they can get them from any number of meat substitutes such as TVP or Textured Vegetable Protein. Manny meat eaters think veggie meat is disgusting but once you get used to the fact that the fake meats don't really taste like the meats they are supposed to imitate and just treat them like a entirely different type of meat they can be pretty good too. My personal favorite is an off brand vegetarian curry abalone that goes great with a little rice and mushroom soup curry gravy.
So effectively what Microsoft has given the world for free is something that barely gets the job done -- and given that model, I would say it would definitely appeal to the same demographic they're advertising Windows 8 development to: college students.
As a college student I take great offense at the thought that pile of kludge is aimed at me. I have only met one person (in meatspace, all others I view with suspicion that it might be Balmer just trolling forums) that tried the windows 8 prerelease and liked it. (before that i thought he was a bit odd anyway but that just cemented it.)

and their tech section is run by taco so it could be counted as a sort of pseudo-slashdot effect they have as well

One wonders could they not melt down the pipes and use a centerfuge system like the do with uranium to seperate the hot metel from the stable
