    Most people I know use corel draw/photopaint or gimp or the ubiquitous microsoft paint program

    seeings as that has become industry standard while I don't care for it in eula I will tolerate it in exchange for the games it provides. Besides has that clause been tested in a real court case yet? I doubt that a would stand up as you can't sign away your legal rights.

    Or at least is was until we started calling whistles blowers enemy of the state (like one Julian Assange) now people that try to keep the government honest are to be executed with extreme prejudiced.

    maybe when I can download for free and install OSX to my Toshiba, Dell, e-machine, or any other computer produced in the last 15 years. And if i so choose replace OS component provided by the Apple that i want, like put in a different weather applet, or wifi synce. Maybe when i can for free submit my free app to be included in its software repositories/store, maybe when i can add another source to the repository list. or when they don't charge me to develop for their platforms. the list of thing that many Linux desktop user would require to make the jump to OSX for their primary desktop is pretty big and apple would never submit to many of them..

    would that not make microsoft office even more easy to pirate by simply copying all of the scripts and saving them locally? I'm pretty sure it is a lot more then just javascript running on their the front end may be written in javascript bu the work is being done deep in the bowls of a microsoft server farm somewhere.

    Will it run in a virtualized environment? I would try running it in several different ones (vmware player, virtualbox(vanilla open source and with oracle addons), kvm, zen, qemu, kqemu, vmware esxi) sadly though that won't always work, fortunately it is getting better though.

    I would be fine with an passive connection to other computing system, a stream of traffic data from other vehicles could be useful only as long as it is viewed by the cars guidance system as somewhat untrustworthy and firewalled. also it can serve up all of the data it likes to other components of the car so as you speed up the radio/sound system can raise the volume, or gas/battery (for electric vehicles) usage could be useful for telling saying low and giving another internet connected computer data that can make suggestions of nearby refill/charge station and dinning facilities

    But definitely as un-hackable as possible for example it should not trust reading sent to it by other cars without verifying them with say onboard radar and other sensors. And under no circumstances allow it to fallow command sent to it by another system (not counting steering wheel)

    point. But in his case, being a congressmen do we atribute this to incompatence or malice? Noramly we should not atribute to malice what can be just as easily incoponatence I think here we may have a case of both. He probably tried to wipe his hard drive running from a live cd ( problably like some techy relative told him is the best way to do it) only he insted accidently installed to another partion and because the old partion is not mounted by default thought he had wiped the drive anyway only to find out latter thet it wasn't. but blamed theose "terrorist free software people" to soon.

    I was think more along the lines of a small 50-75 people or less business where simply reusing current equipment with minimal upgareds (ram, hard drive, maybe processor) would be the perferd method of breaking with windows while maintaing security (a secure updated linux host could run scans of all incoming traffic with say clamAV and scan files headed for the xp vm that is only used for office until the business could migrate to linux, bsd, Mac OSX(not perfect but better then running a all MS system).

    which unless your blind or a moron will not going be mistaken for windows. and you also have to set the bios to boot from the live media instead of hard drive first. if it were set to I would ask why? is it because you need to do an emergency wipe? and if so what are you trying to hide?

    dell has ubuntu and widows desktops and i think i saw a redhat server on their site.
