There's no excuse not to pay for the multimedia you use these days. I can get any show/song I want on iTunes. If I didn't want to pay $3 an episode or a buck a song, I just wouldn't bloody own it.
Unless you use Linux where iTune and Netflix doesn't have a native client. Remember not everyone here likes Apple or Microsoft and some of us want a OS that works they way we want it to, and gasp would also like to be able to consume media. some of us don't want to support monopoly abusing patent trolls.
once you have the power to create law you no longer have to by congress to do it for you and you save money that you can then use for swimming in, prosecuting small childern and old ladies, butt rape the country and make even more money
no all it needs is one distro or closely related family distros (ubuntu debian mint) to have equal market share to apple pc's then there would be no reason not to port it other than hated of users and that is not a good thing is business and the ceo would get kicked out on the curb, business always want to make money ignoring money is a bad way to do that. you may say that they are not going after Linux now and there is money there but they would not make enough money to recoup there costs of developing a secure drm and video delivery system for linux which has to be honest a negligible market share and work around to get netflix streaming anyway (virtual machine, multi-boot, multiple boxes {most Linux users being computer junkies who commonly have multiple computers} android sdk emulator, multiply mobile devices, {ipad iphones, android tablets, android phones,} and streaming tv dvds and bluray players playstations xboxs wii and devoted streaming boxs, or the holy grail of apple tv and google tv. so netflix linux desktop not untill we are in eqaul numbers to the other two os's. i love using linux but i don't look for it coming for a while maybe after windows 8 rage has set in and Redmond is razed and burned and the ground salted and balmers been executed for crimes against humanity.
i think unity is scaring more. Ubuntu had been a decent OS that people used to like the look of and were interested in then came the monstrosity that is unity it looks like a tablet but i cant touch it so that is useless. it is Linux but i cant customise it one of Linux's main selling point. granted gnome three is bad but the biggest mind-share Linux to the average joes is unity and it looks like a fisher price toy
please read the evil overlord-list before finalising the script. there are so many stupid villains it would be refreshing to have one that doesn't make stupid decisions all the time

LMI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Mark_Institute) would probably be fine with doing so. they would probably want several keys thought one for well know trusted sources (Debian Redhat Ubuntu Fedora, Opensuse) another for lesser know small distros and another for betas alphas experimental, ect. they might also want to go in on it with the BSD's and other open source OS's like OpenSolaris descendants, Haiku, Darwin, ReactOS and others.
Which would be thawrted by some cracker pretending to be the key server. What they would need is all of the date on the disk to be encrypted and have unique identifiers and and pgp key so that a cracked disk could be blacklisted so clones would be useless. but some one would eventually find a flaw in the system probably by listing in on the handshake between the console and the client and decrying threat when the keys are exchanged then cracking their disks encryption and then faking the key server and finally striping the drm out of there game and distributing the game on an emulator over pirate-bay. drm is in the end useless and will be cracked because you need to be given the decrypted contents eventualy. Think I will go back to playing Super Mario Bros on my NES now.
you could use a loadable kernel modual they seem to be able to get around the gpl licensing issue. If i remember correctly that is how zfs on Linux, and kvm on solaris work.
that isn't a problem.the problem i shouldn't be forced to pay for it whne there are great free version that do the same thing better that the only reason i cant use is because the device manufacterer don't like the gpl or other simmiler licence. i am fine paying for app but don't force me to only use the pay apps when there are better free alternatives avalible.
he made money off of advertisments people saw and clicked he made no money off of the files them selves. that money has nothing to do with copyright holders any more than me selling used dvds on a web site with the same advertising.
correction he stole nothing he facilitated the infringment of american copyrighted material from his company in hongkong and we put the presure on his home contry of new zeland so they arrested him.
