Not to diminish Gates' legitimate charity, but was any of that in software?
I can see it now, hundreds crates of unsold copies of Windows 2.0 are arriving in Indonesia as we speak. MS writes off a billion dollars on its 2005 taxes.
And how much light energy could you possibly be receiving at that point? ( 1/4 inch / 30 feet ) ^ 2? That comes to 1/14400.
Even if you could see it I sincerely believe that would not be enough to blind you or even affect your vision, even it was a green laser, which is much more powerful than a red one (and more likely to harm the eye since it's more sensitive to that color).
Well, first off, it's a green laser which is orders of magnitude more powerful than the $5 red keychain laser I (and maybe you, too) have in my pocket.
The stories I've read didn't say, but if it were an instantaneous flash vs. something steady or repeated that would make a big difference as well.
I still think it would take some determination to actually flash a cockpit, even if the airport was nearby.
Seems to me you have to try pretty hard to laser an airplane cockpit from the ground. I find it hard to believe he wasn't trying to do exactly that. 25 years might be harsh, but stupidity is expensive. You should avoid it.
Reminds me of install.bat which came with most software, and usually needed to be fixed before running it. Everyone always assumed their stuff should go in the root of the C:\ drive... or worse, dumped right in the Windows directory. In fact, that still happens.
"C:\Program Files" was a great idea, except for the fact that the morons who decided to include a space in the name were the same morons that neglected to support embedded spaces in file names consistently. I would, however, personally like to dangle spit in the face of whoever thought it was a clever thing to prefix every directory name with "My ". That has got to be the lamest decision ever made since Windows 95 defaulted to not displaying file extensions... something that's STILL default almost 10 years later, despite being, IMO, the absolutely stupidest UI decision in the history of computing.
I'll go you one better. I remember reading about the registry when Windows 95 was being made. Apparently there was consideration at Microsoft that they wouldn't even let you edit the thing. If that was so, at least they came to their senses, because even then I knew that the first thing to do when running a new Windows 3 program was to edit the INI file and change all the stupid defaults.
Nowadays there's so much garbage in the registry you can't understand or inspect it all, but it's still necessary to edit it, just to do some obvious things.
That one's good, but I like the old one better... I think it's more common (at least on the Christianity side)... I haven't played D&D in about 10 years.
Back in my day we have 1 edition and we liked it that way.:-)
The problems with Christianity and D&D are essentially the same: too many people RTFM, but don't comprehend it.
Great sig!
The good thing about Christianity is that the DM is much, much better. Or at least more consistent.
The bad thing is that He can't be bought off with a six-pack of Dew and a pizza.
The good thing about D&D is that the DM is usually your friend and will try to make it so you have fun.
The bad thing is that the DM can give you millions of gold pieces, +8 everything and make you king of world or even a god, but you still gotta go to work/class on Monday morning.
Yeah, wait till the "task obsessiveness" hits and he makes those twisty nail-type puzzles out of an entire box of staples and then proceeds to back up the computers harddrive to Post-it notes.
You'll be back to getting paid to moisten your seat and read/. all day in no time.
I haven't sat in a recent Civic, but my '85 Civic hatchback always had more than enough for me at 6'4". Toyotas (at least from that period) always made me feel claustrophic. My 2001 Accord could use a couple inches more leg room, but it's pretty good for me. I've driven it fairly long distances and had no problems.
Well, it was like that hideous Aztek that you saw everywhere for about 6 months, then they all disappeared.
I know companies need to break free from the utter monotony of most current car design but mkaing your vehicle look like industrial HVAC machinery isn't the way to go in this poster's opinion.
A teribyte of harddrive space?
That's a lot of pictures of Ms. Hatcher.

Or Moore who is fatter and inconsistenter than even Limbaugh.
The morons in Bollywood have been living in their fantasy world for so long that you will rarely find movies that reflect real-life accurately
And this is different from "Aitch" Hollywood how?
Prepare for more of the same on the FM dial!
What planet have you been on? This has been the case for years.
I'll do the service for less than $5000. If I say, "It sucks!" it oughta at least hit the Top 40.
Not so many as when you would open it up and take out a mint.
Really, I bet you could save enough room for a couple in there.
They won't release it... they think the animal rights folks might get upset over the squeals of pain.
Get really drunk and do a random walk...
It's pronounced "Dur-hey!"
As in, is the the DRHIAA trying to screw consumers?
DUR-HEY!
Worse, they think it's insightful.

Too late for me, I'm spreading my proto-nerd spawn across the face of the planet. Bwahahahahahahah!

No, not better, just easier.
It would be much easier to type, play piano and pick your nose with more fingers.
Looking through the list of Cochrane's possible scenarios, it looks like I'm ahead of the curve.
D2b. The incomprehensibly smart all convert to Catholicism.
