have you considered Computer Technology itself.. it (nin the case of Purdue university anyways) contains a good mix of what you would learn from either major.. an associates in it is marketable... and it can help you get a good idea as to which direction you whish to turn.. if any.
i just telnet to a linux box on another isp, then mirrir the site i want, or just use LYNX...
of course my admin doesnt think anyone here is smart enough to use telnet.. so its not watched:p
in my experioence, people more readily fear names that seem ambiguous or non-sensical... simply, people fear what they dont understand.... and a series of Initials and numbers is just as menacing as "carnivore"
now.. if they named it "little bunny foofoo"
im only 20.. the youngest person in my newspaper (i build ads [ugh}) and not only do i have more Computer Graphics experience (formal) than everyone else, but i understand our network and systems better than our Sysadmin (ITT Tec grad, with MCDE (whatever) certification.
No one littens to me, ever. My solution is simple. Let it go.. its not that important.. learn from them what you can then leave ON GOOD TERMS of course. In a few months i go back to college, then i never have to be at this paper again. I will be studying in a Tech school, instead of being the only Tech Literet (if a little forgetfull and a bad speller) in a hick town.
just look to what good can come of this experience.. and try to remember that when your older.. maby you should listen to younger employies.
actually, while i was in college, i had many friends who were Telemarketers. THey got paid rather well (for a job that requires little or no skill) somthing along the lines of $12 to $16 an hour. It really depended on how many sales they made. Since strting pay was aroung $10/hr, i wouldnt think it was all that bad...
except for Telemarketers are STILL spawn of the dark god Shabringo.
wait a minute....
this is how companies have been hiring for years... find a security tech that one a "white Hat" hacker... this isnt news (its interesting yes, but news... no)
i have an old voodoo2 add-on card, and when i play UT, i see motion blur........... and when i type, i see motion blur.... and when i pay for new linux boxes, i see motion blur..... and when i people run away from my discussions about Beowoulf clusters.....
a friend of mine at PURDUE UNIVERSITY (WOOHOO) is currently being suewd by pixar because he registered the domain Toystory2.com (or somthing like that).
He is just a fan of the movie... and yet large companies threaten to sue a poor Student...

Realy, isnt this the same type of thing that had apple going bankrupt in early 90's. When apple/Mac Systems came originally, they WERE supirior to there IBM counterparts in most features (at least the ones that the consumer could see). They couldnt sell simply because they had lousy marketing. Of course i was only about 7 when macs first came out sooo....
Wireless isps would be VERY big in rural and farma areas, where DSL isnt an option, cable cant be run, adn phone lines are in poor condition.. beleve it or not, but many farmers are in great need of a quality connection
honestly, i dont see what the big deal is, ive played one of the damn things and its no better than the original. As for the DVD ability, like someone LONG before me said, you can get a truly GOOD player for the same money, rather than the medicre one that the PS2 is.
i will admit the BASIC thing IS cool though....
lets talk more about that...:P
