...for apple to become an official religon? heh. They need to talk to some more apple fans. You could probly get more people to claim their religon was Apple, than said their religon was jedi On that note, who wants to start the chain letter?
I've tried Debian, and Red Hat, but for me Mandrake was easy to set up, easy to use, and has quite a nice GUI to boot. (It's really a shame i toasted the hard drive it was on) Now, If you're on a mac Mac OS X is my *nix of choice. Yeah, it is BSD (NeXT based) so it doesnt really apply here, but it's quite fun, powerful, good looking, etc
Okay...Who might I ask has half a million bucks to blow on this? I mean, having my own space shuttle might be nice and all, but, this is a ratther sorry looking one...not to mention a 1/8 scale model. Half a million is quite a bit for this, if you ask me. (not to mention the durration of his auction was short...he started it on the 5th. I mean, 7 days for something you're asking for upwards of half a million for. If I had that kind of money, to blow...I'd spend more than a week to deside to blow it on this.
First, random hackers attacked my severs. Then, random friends hacked my server. Now, they'll hack my pants? I can just imagine walking in a room, and having my pants get 10 sizes bigger and falling off. Or, when I'm out on a date with my girl, porno videos start playing on my shirt. I can imagine the first T-Shirt eMail virus now...
Joe User gets his email **ATTN!** NEW TSHIRT DESIGN JUST 4 U!! Joe User downloads new_tshirt.tsht to his shirt Joe User's T-shirt starts sending out more mail viri and then catches fire
Or, your shirt could be rented out as ad space to any advertiser who could pay...JUST THINK OF THE POSIBILITIES!
an EULA has verry little (or nothing) to do with a patent on software. EULA's are an agreement between you, and the software company who you LICENCED your software from. it tells you what you are alowed to do with it (eg, run one copy) and what you CANNOT do with it (eg, decompile, trade, etc) EULA's are tough to inforce, howerver (especialy in the us, i dont know about europe)
(1) CyberTool 41(best tool i've ever owned)
(1) Cell Phone (sometimes clipped to belt, depends on how i want to look
(1) Wallet (with lots and lots of change..why? change is cool, plus you can beat people with it and it hurts
(6) CD's in Jewl Cases (or) 20 CDs in evvelopes (1) set of Keys, keychain photon micro light, the works.
MS would never do this. why? because there are vast legal problems problems with it. a "Code Green" worm would, in the eyes of the law, exactly the same as the "Code Red" and "Code Red II" worms. It's software that accesses a user's computer, and does things without the user's knowlage. Now, the two posible ways you could get around this are: 1) Put a "warning" screen before code green does anything. IE "Your computer has been infected with the Code Red worm, this program is a patch, and will repair your computer"
2) MS could put a line in the EULA for IIS that says "Microsoft can monitor your computer for viruses, and without warning, remotely apply patches"
Now, 2 I know would be legal, and while 1 is questionable, if it went to court, i speculate that it could easily be defended. (However, IANAL, so if you spend some time in jail, dont blaim me)
Didn't nVidia -DEVELOP- DX8 along with microsoft? why then, do they only support ps 1.3 whereas ATI supports ps 1.4? Who in their right mind would buy an ATI board anyways? appart from keeping the Mac platform alive for several years, have they done anything worthwhile? I thought they just played catchup to nVidia and 3dfx
Still, even if it is "only" a yellow underline it's still CHANGING your content, and still calling it your own. coppyright grounds would be hard to fight this on, but i think there are things you could fight it on. since your users would expect anything on your page to come from you (can any lawyers comment on this?)
I'm wondering, does MuiscCity Morpheus (afik, KaZaA with MusicCity's logos all over it) also install TopText? and if they place their ads on my site, is there any legal action i can take, or is there any way to collect royalties from them? (Hey, if you want ad space on my site, you pay me.)
IANAL, but anything you do with documents sent to you by SirCam is risky. I belive it's the same as if a "hacker" cracked their servers, and gave people access to the files. They may be there, you may have access to them. however, you cannot use them, because the documents were still "protected" by the company.
But, I realy want to know what the hell the goverment thinks my games, my music and my p0rn is doing to me... It's all "ehh..porn is bad...violence in movies is gonna corupt our youth" but they dont seem to say WHY it's bad. porn may conflict with some peoples belifs, but not mine. I guess my problem is i presume most people have the common sence i have to know that what you see on TV or the 'net aint real
One problem the palm has is the screen's refresh rate. it's somewhere in the 20Hz range, whereas an SE's screen was 60Hz.
This means that what's on the screen can change only 20 times a second on a palm, causeing scrolling documets to flicker, or lag (and games to be more or less imposible) whereas on the SE, it just gives you a headake
Yeah, I know photons puch it...but why the hell would it need to spin unless it's for the reasons noted in my previous post, to generate power. come to think of it..that wouldnt work, as the other part of the ship would have no way of staying still itself
In the future, a windmill-shaped version of the solar sail will use the solar winds -- speeding, highly energized particles -- to propel itself through space, the society said.
IANARS, (I am not a rocker scientest) but since there isnt much in deep space to push off of, how would a windmill help?
Unless, they plan on spinning some sort of generator, to power other parts of the ship (Lights, air scrubbers, ion thrusters, whatever floats your boat). Damn. that would be a good idea. leme go patent that.
Apple DID give us a new iMac. It's faster. it comes in the same colors. it also comes with a cdrw. they also did give us DVD playback, even if a little buggy. the only catch, is it comes out in september. Apple also also gave us the droolworthy dual 800MHz g4, even if it is a bit disipointing. But did you realy expect anything new? given the almost total lack of leaks? there were no leaks, because there was nothing to leak. MacWorld i think, has moved from apple's one place to anounce new hard/software, to just yet another event.
"they should own it in the same sense that you'd own a book you buy: [...] make a million copies of it"
Erm. no? it's just as illegal to reproduce a book as it is to reproduce software (by reproduce, i mean reproduce without the copyright holder's concent) "and until they start doing the right thing: i.e., giving away their software for free to public schools, open-sourcing the OS standards that determine how programs interact w/ the OS so that non-windows OS' can run windows programs."
Now i'm not trying to defend ms here (i hate them as much as the next/.'er) but no company (no matter how big) makes money by giving things away for free. now, there should be some openness in the way the API's work so you can run windows code on non-windows PCs, but that's not going to happen. while we're open sourceing things...get pepsi to
you cant realy hold your ground against M$. their cash supply is more or less infinite, and xbox tech. is something i doubt anyone has ever heard of (meaning they have 0 cash to spend fighting MS)
They'd go down like roadkill
Now if -I- had the rights to something MS wanted...I'd be selling it to the highest bidder (someone like Sony or Nintendo would have a chance fighting MS, or in the least could delay the MSxbox) this would undoubtably bring in FAR FAR more cash

They just tore up like, every street around here
Actuly, MacOS X is based off NeXt (that however, was based off BSD)

Looks like they need to wind their servers up again.
