    But you have to also count that such a obsolete HW it's also BIG and HEAVY - and that counts in space bussiness. Nevertheless - I think when you design such a system more modular and in Java (or C++) any future upgrade will be much more easier (how long do we use C/C++ and it still seems to be going on) - not I'm saying easier, not easy!

    I don't see how it would violate DMCA IF you don't do it in USA (and maybe EU). If you take "final product", it is completely legal even when proces used for creating isn't legal in USA. It's like buying goods from state with lower legal working age.

    ...for Linux but big crash for Pd ;o) (I think MS is testing some basic components here - running signed code only, special BIOS etc. etc.)

    I think that only way to do it is to find bug in Xbox BIOS (or whatever - but this will be surely fixed by MS) or brute-force decrypt CDs signing key so we'll be able to sign Linux CD as regular Xbox application.

    Yes, it's Linux based NAS with SW RAID (nevertheless lot of RAID controllers (like Promise ones) is using CPU (no the one onboard but the main one!) to compute RAID so it's no hardware RAID in fact :) (it's even slower then Linux SW RAID - compared 12 discs in RAID5).

    I'm going to do it by standard IDE controllers ;o) Even with Intel Celeron 1 GHz CPU - it's going to be NAS server and ethernet is here the limit ;o)

    Hmmmm, nice thought... I agree that computers are now on way to become as normal as microwave or vcr so nobody will in future give a fuck thinking computers as somethings unusual and revolutionary :)
