The UK won't be able to make the rules stricter, and won't be able to veto countries like Turkey entering the EU, so EU immigration will increase.
What are you talking about? The UK is pro Turkey within the EU, as is David Cameron. The UK don't want the EU to succeed, therefore getting Turkey in the EU is the best way to achieve that and to slow down EU integration.
Having used both Miracast and Google Cast, I can tell you that Google Cast is much better for 99% of the use cases. It doesn't drain your phone battery, is much less buggy and continue to works even if your phone is out of range / powered off. Also with cast instead of mirroring, you can use the TV remote to play/pause which is a lot more intuitive. It's often the best of both worlds: use the cellphone/pc/tablet to search and start the movie (faster CPU, better keyboard), but the TV gets the content directly from the Internet without having to be decompressed/recompressed by your phone/pc/tablet.
Too bad there is no open standard comparable to Google Cast.
A Hub in a monitor is useful for stuff such as keyboard and mouse. You already have at least 1 power cord and 1 video cable going to your monitor. Adding 3 USB cables won't change the usability. It's much better than requiring another box (USB hub) with one more power cord.
- will be just as much work making OS X more like my linux machine in terms of a good terminal emulator?
Yes. I can't believe how crappy is the default OS X shell/terminal compared to a standard Ubuntu install. Coreutils suck, lack many useful options of the GNU variants used in Linux. You have bash, but without bash-completion (not to be confused with plain old tab-completion) it feels like you are stuck with a Linux distro from the 90s.
- How about decent package management? How do fink/hombrew/pip etc compare to apt?
It sucks a lot more. A lot less integrated with the system, packages are more buggy, less maintained. They also often duplicate packages already provided by the OS.
- Will common shortcuts like alt-tab, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-X work in OS-X?
No, most of them are different. You need a special keyboard with an Apple key.
So you buy Apple products because you need to repair them 6 times? I can't remember a single laptop (including a lot of cheap ones) requiring more than one repair. And all of them lasted at least 3 years, often 5-7.
- I do wish Apple provided the multi port adapter with the laptop. I rarely use it but have to have one around just in case (USB-A and HDMI)
Or even better, they could include a USB A and HDMI port on the laptop. That would be revolutionary. I wonder why nobody had this idea before.
- Now that they provide a USB-C to lightning cable, I can use the same charger for my phone and laptop. They should have the option to get these with new phones.
Or you know, they could just use USB-C on phones instead of useless proprietary ports. It would be nice if phones with standard ports existed.
Has it been confirmed by a single court that Apple can legally restrict what I can do with the software I purchased from them? My understanding was that the User Agreement was moot.
I am talking about country size, not density. Why would things be closer in a smaller country? The smaller the country, the higher the chances you'll need/want something from outside the country. I don't see why someone from the Netherlands would travel less distance than someone from say, Russia.
Nothing to do with the size of the country. Why would people in small countries travel less than those in larger countries? Especially with the European integration, moving from one country to the other is much like crossing a US state border.
That 1.7t/person/year is probably not static. Carbon storage technologies exist. But still, you can't blame a country emitting 5t/person/year when your country is emitting over 20.
You didn't invent anything. You still try to mislead slashdotters by trying to make them believe that somehow, because the Chinese and the Indians happen to be regrouped in a country with more people than say, the USA or the UAE, they should have less individual right to emit CO2. You say that too many people in a country is a problem. I gave you the solution: just divide the country in a dozen of smaller countries. The solution is just as ridiculous as your comment.
And not all countries "above the allowed emission per capita" (whatever the allowed cap is) are equal. Rich western & Arab polluters such as USA, Australia, UAE, Canada and Qatar are still much worse than China or India.
As for the population problem, are you suggesting India should split itself in a dozen of countries? How would that have any effect on global emissions?

Given that Android is the only mobile OS that actually allows phone manufacturers/carriers to change the default search engine or browser.
It already exists, it's called Miracast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

HTC is no better. They have their own skin and update channel.
does it lag as it is getting all updates late, or as is it getting one update per year?
I seriously doubt you're going to be easier on the environment than coal.
based on what facts?
Samsung and others will just remove that Google updater. They fork Android and they don't want any update from Google.
Are there any non-Nexus devices getting monthly security patches from Google?
Of course new CPU is more efficient.

You may still love it. But would you buy it again at full price in 2016?

it's every easier, you can just use a C to C cable and charge one Macbook from another, which means perpetual energy.
Not legally in most places,
Has it been confirmed by a single court that Apple can legally restrict what I can do with the software I purchased from them?
My understanding was that the User Agreement was moot.
" they come equipped with almost three-year-old processor and graphics chips"
That must be a joke, right? Apple computers are expensive, but at least they give you the latest technology, isn't it?
Of course public transportation is much better in Europe, thanks in parts to lower incentives in the US (gas price is too low).

are you suggesting the poor should have an unlimited inalienable right to pollute?
good riddance.

Your comment is misleading.
India has a level of CO2 emissions per capita which is much lower than the world average.
As for the population problem, are you suggesting India should split itself in a dozen of countries? How would that have any effect on global emissions?
