This rant gets modded interesting? The guy created the web site for free. He maintained it for free. He paid the domain name registration. The site is his to pull or sell as he sees fit. If it is really important to the sherrif's office, then they should be willing to pay for it. If not, they're free to do just what they did, put up a new site and create their own content.
Abusing the law by arresting this guy, just makes the LEO's look like the extortionists.
This is not true for all degree tracks at the UoP. I've had to buy several textbooks for courses in my BSIT major. All the books are overpriced and useless, and I have yet to get the bookstore to buy a single one back. When a class does use the online resources, you're billed over $50 for the resource fee.
Raises some interesting questions about software reliability, I think. Did nobody think about running out of disk space?
I don't think this is an issue of software reliability, it is an issue of system analysis and design. If the system was not designed properly, to handle the amount of data needed to be stored, or to have proper housekeeping - the fault lies with the system analyst not the software.
I never seem to have mod points when I really need them. Mod the parent up!
You hit the nail on the head. Catching speeders is about revenue generation, not safety. There are son many other things LEO's could be doing to improve driving safety, but it doesn't generate the revenue like speeding fines do.
Nice sentiment, except it isn't supported by reality. All those billions in farm subsidies don't go to family farms, the bulk go to big agribusiness. Agribusiness won't cease if the subsidies are stopped, and no one would starve. It might even help make family farms more competitive against agribusiness.
I was with you, right up to your anti-gun rant. How different would things be if either the pilots of the planes, or passengers with concealed carry permits, were armed when the hijackers made their moves? That's what defense is about, preventing a tragedy. Not cleaning up the pieces afterward.
Locally (Texas), the companies are saying the service is only available if you live in a larger metropolitan area. The smaller burb residents are forced to wait until ?
I've had very good experiences with the Ghost software. We build bootable CD's with a system image spanned over three CD's. Pop in the CD, boot from CD, goes straight to the Ghost app, restore image and 20 minutes later you have a fully restored system. We use this to clone laptops frequently and it has yet to cause a problem.
The court that will be hearing your case will do everything they can to dissuade you from contesting your ticket. They'll threaten you with having to pay full court costs (often more than the fine). Even if you have a good case, you'll probably end up paying at least the amount of the original fine. Local governments can't generate revenue if they dismiss cases.
It's bad enough we get dup's in the articles, but duplicated posts in the replies is a bit much. How many more times are you going to post this response?
The TDI's do get really good mileage, our Jetta TDI averages around 48MPG. Inside, it's like it's gas engined counterpart - outside it does have the diesel rattle. The turbo really gives the 4 cyl. engine some pick-up and go.
You should also consider a motorcycle. A quality bike and some good all-weather riding gear will set you back a LOT less than the cheapest car. Easier to maneuver in traffic, easier to find parking, most have really good fuel efficiency (40-55mpg).
Barnes & Noble have the second edition available on CD as part of the CD Networking Bookshelf package for $14. Includes the DNS and Bind book, 3rd Ed. in hardcopy.
While I was in Kuwait earlier this year, I noticed the Kuwait Ministry of the Interior sent cell phone SPAM messages almost daily (in English and Arabic) with government "feel good" messages" -

They included the statement, "at our customers request." You can bet they'll be passing the cost of the license on to their customers.
The plastic tubes that mini-M&M's come in make great storage cases. They even come in a variety of colors.

They have an article on building a PC based personal video recorder. As others have mentioned, the DVB card is the expensive component.
Expect some new FUD from Darl & Co, in a desperate attempt to reverse the trend.

I, for one, welcome our new penguin overlords!
It has to be said in every thread.

They'll probably require that it be implanted under the skin. You have to think of the children! :)
Has a nice feel in the hand and a very fine tip. A little pricey ($4.00), but worth it.

Anyone who's read Dan Simmons' Hyperion series, knows Sci-Fi is still alive and well. His latest book, "Ilium" proves this.

But what percentage is it of voters who actually bothered to vote in the election?

Not to mention laptop hardware; soundcards or wifi PCMCIA cards.
How about mpage ?

I'm pretty sure there's even been a movie made about this kid's work (HBO?).
