That's not true at all. I am accessing my MSN account from my Cable provider that has absolutely nothing to do with MSN.. using KMail 2.1 on a RH7 base..

    (RH7 upgraded to XF86 4.1.0, upgraded to KDE2.1)

    Works fine for me.
Also, Yahoo has excellent POP capabilities as well, from what I"ve seen, though their servers and datapipe aren't nearly the size/speed of MSN's.

And I'm still getting email services from my first landline ISP.. oh, and I've got my own email server setup on the LAN, so I've got 4 accounts there. And I"ve used it all on both dialup MSN, and MSN DSL.. and now with Comcast Cable.

It all works great. Just plug it into the new provider and bam.. it goes!

Jesus, people. IT's like the ANTI-MS Hysteria has so gripped Slashdot editors, that they figure that NOTHING can be done right by them. (if it helps, MSN isn't really a big chunk of MS)

MSN in fact, is probably one of the fastest DIALUP carriers. When I used their Dialup, it was insanely fast compared to all others in the area. And trust me, I've been around long enough to have used virtually EVERY ISP.

Right, being outside of the realm entirely, Ford could not attack a piece of computer software called Contour. Nope, no way.

I'm not even familiar with what Adobe Illustrator or the software formerly known as Killustrator do. I have absoluetly no interest in that sort of thing. I'm strictly a communications guy.

In any case, if "Illustrator" describes what it does (makes illustrations?) then I don't think that Adobe can have their say into who uses it. That would be like calling a word processor "Word Processor" and then attempting to sue a company that makes a program called a word processor. Not gonna happen. But I get this feeling that that isn't exactly a description of it's function, and that if the two programs do the same sorts of things, then Adobe does have some rights to that particular name.

It's like Microsoft Word. You couldn't very well go and develop "NewCorp Word". No one would treat that one very nicely. Or if it were instead of "kIllustrator" say it was called "NewCo Illustrator". Just because it's open source doesn't mean you can go ripping people's names off.
Of course, I'm POSITIVE THAT WAS NO ONE'S INTENTION was to rip people's names off. They just wanted their software to be recognized that it performs the same sort of functions as Adobe Illustrator. But that doesn't change that Adobe holds that name.

    There's me $0.04.

I have yet to see another trackball that doesn't absolutely kill my hands to operate on.

The downside of them is that playing through Quake 1, 2, and 3, as much as I used to, I went through about 10 of these trackballs in that time frame. This one I keep very very very good care of, because they went clearance at Babbage's about 3 years ago.. I haven't had a bit of arm pain with my puter since switching to this.

I believe I suffered most of my back problems while driving. After being a generic geek for most of my life, glued to my computer, for 8-12 hours a day, for the course of just over a year or so, I drove nearly 3 hours every day, sometimes more, to/from work/my (then) gf's house, after i moved to the other side of Michigan.

Although I am absolutely -not- a swimmer (I have psych problems with water that has even the potential of going over my head), I can certainly say that water can help - on the days that I can't stand my back, i draw a bathtub full of water, hot as I can possibly stand it. Then fall asleep in it. (facing up, and in my bathtub, it's virtually impossible to accidently turn over in your sleep.. so that gets around the psych issue that I have with drowning)
Wake up, prunelike, very relaxed, and a lot less pain.

On the other hand, later in this thread, as I read while it took over a MINUTE for the reply box to load, I see a lot of people just generally suggesting any kind of exercise.. i don't know about -any- kind of exercise.. but I"m sure that a lot of it helps. Swimming seems to be a good one for those of you who believe that swimming is anything BUT a way to keep from drowning. ;)

I've recently picked up a bit of jogging and/or bicycling. So far, so good. I haven't done it as consistently as I'd like (OK, I'm a wimp - it's rained last 9 out of 10 days here) but after the first couple times out, my back (and my whole body) hurt like goddamn HELL for the next two days, but afterwards i felt a hell of a lot better.

I wonder if eComStation will be any better, less geared towards absolute redundancy and enterprise class server operations, even in the client edition. It's biggest downfall is it's resource usage. But at least it knew what to -do- with those resources, whereas it's competitor of the time NT, was just a resource slug that didn't use the resources for anything good except lunch.

It's great for telephone use (better shielding/twisted pair setup makes a lot of phone interference go away .. real nice), can be used to hook up a set of speakers (though since it's low gauge, you won't get great sound, it works in a pinch), virtually anything that requires wire.
