No, no you don't want to see any pics. You cannot unsee them.

Or your could just do what Bernie Goetz did when he couldn't (wouldn't) pay: file for bankruptcy. He had a $43M judgement against him in 1996 and in 2004, "hasn't paid a penny yet".

  3. Ratings and Movies You'll Like toasted too on Netflix To Eliminate Profiles Feature · · Score: 2, Interesting

Not only were profiles helpful for queues as stated here, but also for keeping the varied tastes of myself, wife and children separate too. Having gone through and rated a large number of movies, we are now getting *fairly* accurate predictions of movies we might like.

If they actually follow through with this and family/friends merge into one profile, the prediction algorithm will be lobotomized since it will try to predict based on different people's opinions. We'll be back to getting notices like this one that I got before we had separate profiles: Based on your ratings, we think you'll like the following two movies: Bambi Platinum Edition and Scarface 20th Anniversary Edition.

Actually believing K means 1024 is, in my experience, a fairly new (last 10-15 years), and something that would have gotten you a big 'F' in any case where it actually mattered. No, it's been that way for at least 23 years. My compsci class in 1985 had 1K=1024Bytes.

Speaking of price, how often have we seen the soundtrack of a movie costing more than the entire, full length, soundtrack-included movie ? So basically adding the visuals and dialog to the music makes the entire package worth less?

Lewis and Clark reported that since it took them 18 months to cover 3352 square miles (assuming 1/2 mile on each side of the river over the journey), it would take about 23 THOUSAND YEARS to cover the 52 million square miles of land on Earth, not counting Antarctica.

  7. Re:What's wrong with payola? on Sony Agrees to Stop Payola · · Score: 1

Why exactly should this be illegal?

Only because the FCC says so. I produce a small show for a local church, and when it is broadcast, we are REQUIRED to say at the beginning: "The following service is sponsored by..." followed by the name of our church. This is because we pay the radio station to have it broadcast on the air (we don't want commercials in our broadcast). Payola, however, is only the UNDISCLOSED payment for broadcast, and it is illegal.

Acutally, I believe you are thinking of Reuben who was recorded as sticking up for Joseph (other brothers of Benjamin). Joseph was going to be killed by his other brothers because of Joseph's (later true) dreams of his ruling over them. Benjamin *was* the youngest brother. And there were 12 sons plus 1 daughter!

Actually a 81 928 in good shape goes for about $10K or so, or about 1/6 the original price, even without water damage.
