  1. if you mean by on Microsoft And Apple Target Schools In War With Chromebook (techcrunch.com) · · Score: 1

device per child a single terminal with 10 in monitor and keyboard using "gasp" CASSETTE TAPES to store data sitting on a cart wheeled from room to room, then no, not loyalty to that brand at all. Maybe you were one of the lucky ones who had an Apple II in your school, or even more than one, again on wheeled carts that moved from classroom to classroom.

School districts are so strapped for cash now whatever is cheapest is what they get. One device per student is a nice idea, provided the business you're contracted with has a good replacement policy for stolen or damaged devices.

And I know that the corporate owned MSM is just that, which is why I haven't watched it in years. I get my news from alternative sources. Unfortunately Alex Jones doesn't have the best reputation, despite the news stories he has broken.

  8. Age of Heroes coming soon on Public Domain Superheroes? · · Score: 1

Eye-n-Apple Productions has plans to publish a compilation of comic book heroes that have gone to the public domain. The book, titled "Age of Heroes" is a faithful reproduction of superheroes "The Arrow", "Wonder Man", and "The Phantom of the Fair." Most of the research on these heroes was done at Michigan State University's special collections department at the university library. The curator of the collection is an avid golden age comic book collector.

The editor promises the book will be published in the near future. Keep your eyes open for it.

Chat spelling? C'mon! I teach alternative high school and these kids come to us unable to alphabetize, much less spell! The current crop of kids were raised in a curriculum where phonics was ditched for "whole language" reading; memorizing tables in math was scrapped for the new "Chicago Math" and "Math Their Way"; Spelling gave way to "invented spelling." The result is a generation of kids, after being pressed through a fine-mesh sieve of "traditional" education, come to programs such as ours. Our goal here is to hopefully give them some basic skills to function in society, and show them the joys of a dictionary.

Standardized spelling of the english language is a fairly modern phenomenon, thanks to Daniel Webster. Perhaps the pendulum is swinging back and historians of the future will write journal articles about how 21st century and 18th century writing had much in common.

After working four years in the cataloging department of a large university library, my initial reaction to this is "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Computer library databases are enormous, bloated, behemoths containing millions of records. The security for these databases is very strict. I had to change my password every 30 days, and if the new password was too short, too long, or too much like the old password, it was rejected by the system.

This isn't funny, this is a nightmare.
