When you buy an iPhone, most of the money goes to Apple's cash account, sitting off shore waiting for the next tax avoidance scheme to be implemented. They're up to nearly $300 billion in cash reserves.
All $60 billion went the those companies Chinese subsidiaries.
They're saying it like they're unique in the industry.
Most midrange or better smart phones have Corning glass. They'll probably also have Broadcom, Qualcomm or Intel chips in them. It's probably only Samsung that isn't full of American designed chips (of which only Intel are probably made in USA, the rest at TSMC) but they'll still have Corning glass.
They lost that content not because they weren't a member of MPAA but because the companies that make the content realised they'd make more money if they ran their own streaming service with exclusive content to bring customers.
All the other MPAA members have their own streaming service.
Many of them used to let Netflix buy their content. Now they keep it for themselves, to entice people to pay for their streaming services. Disney is the worst one. Others like HBO do it too.

Credit unions tend to be predatory lenders, offering high interest personal loans and even worse pay-day lending services. Lots of ads like "Bad credit? We can help you!" They're less regulated than a registered bank.
I try to put as much on my credit card as possible. Not only is there cash back, the purchase sits there for over a month interest free. Then I pay it off in full. That's cash back plus a month of interest I'm not paying on my mortgage.
It's kind of win-win for me and the bank. I get slightly less than what I assume the bank gets in merchant fees, but the bank still makes money. Overall I end up paying the bank less money for the privilege of accessing THEIR fucking money (well, that of their other customers) to buy a house (or several) that appreciates significantly in value every year.
I'm glad you find satisfaction holding your own cash, while it diminishes in value with each bit of inflation, but you can actually make money with the help of a bank.
So you captured a 2kg rock moving at many kilometers per second the size of a football at a time when it was nowhere near the moon from over 360,000km away at a time where it was producing no light of its own?
You'd have better luck capturing an image of one of the many satellites orbiting the moon. They're much bigger.
Check for space before downloading the update, allocate a file the required size and use it as an archive file to store the temporary files inside. Boom Storage isn't going to waste 90% of the time, updates won't fail with no disk space.
Apple are the only ones, everyone else has the same deal. So it's non-discriminatory. You can argue that 1.5% is or is not fair and reasonable for the cellular modem in a cell phone.
Apple is just pissed the illegal agreement Qualcomm gave them to exclude Intel & others has finished, along with the cash payments they were getting from Qualcomm.
They want 1.5% of the sale price for the technology that makes a cellphone a cellphone. The same rate everyone else pays.
I guess Apple didn't think it was fair that just because they jack up the retail price, they should pay more for the primary feature. The thing that differentiates an iPhone from an iPod.
No, their supplier wants to charge them the same they charge all the other OEM's.
They had a deal which is the subject of an anti-trust suit in EU. The deal is long over so Qualcomm wants its standard rates. Apple wants to keep its old "exclusive qualcomm rates" without the anti-trust exclusive part.

Apple fails to plan the logistics of manufacturing, so calls on their Chinese partners for help to avoid failure.
That's what I get from that story. They've spent so long outsourcing manufacturing, they've forgotten how to do it.
When you buy an iPhone, most of the money goes to Apple's cash account, sitting off shore waiting for the next tax avoidance scheme to be implemented.

Buying from anywhere creates a few very high paying jobs in USA and many many more jobs in China and Taiwan.

when big companies say good things will happen when laws and regulations get changed for their benefit, they're lying.
Where do you think your money went before? Unless you watched only Netflix originals, it went to other MPAA members.
The vast majority of people just don't care about MPAA and the bad things they campaign for. So yes, more people will join Netflix than leave.
They lost that content not because they weren't a member of MPAA but because the companies that make the content realised they'd make more money if they ran their own streaming service with exclusive content to bring customers.
If they own a studio, doesn't that make them a studio? Hence they're no longer a "non-studio"
All the other MPAA members have their own streaming service.

What?
How is Netflix not a studio? They make their own movies and TV shows.

Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay.
They're all compatible with VISA Paywave terminals aren't they?

Potentially $15 on a $1000 phone. It was $7.50 back when iPhones only cost $500.

When Intel's modem comes out in 2020, it won't be as good as the 2019 Qualcomm ones either.
They may make decent CPU's but Intel suck at modems.
