I think its ridiculous how much they are doing to catch speeders. "Stealth" cop cars that are disguised as unmarked tan colored intrepids with all the lights inside the front and back windshield have popped up all over my area. Studies have been done to prove the best way to improve traffic safety is to have a visible and plentiful number of marked squad cars on the road. That way people think NOT to speed instead of just getting screwed after doing it. If we are going to do things to catch speeders everywhere they go why don't we just limit a cars ability to go faster than the speedlimit. Oh right, they need to generate more revenue to fund the unnecesary and poorly planned wars we are having trouble with. The >$2.00 gas price have almost got me selling my car and buying a bike, if any of this comes true I may not be merely considering it anymore. . . .

Its a shame that its come to the point where a worm will exploit another worm to screw stuff up. I am so glad I moved to linux.
Using kazaa is just asking the RIAA to scan your illegally shared files. Why haven't people figured it out yet. Once they sue all the people sharing over 1,000 files it will be $500.
I personally stopped pirating music (partly because I had run out of things to download a long time ago and few newer releases are worth it). I also believe in supporting artists for the music they make even if the company representing them is greedy, I have friends who are starving artists and need every penny their music could generate.
Napsters DRM sucks, so it would be better if they offered itunes or something (which i currently use), its also one thing to share some songs (I believe sharing can be helpful to promote an artist) but I don't believe its right to give a full cds worth of MP3s to whoever wants to download it.
I don't understand what these kids are so upset about, if the price is similar per student to the other university its only $3 out of the 160 dollars they pay, which at a population 30,000 (the last number I saw) amounts to $90,000, thats alot of money but only 1.87% out of 4,800,000.
I would be thankful that my college is allowing me to legally download music for free so i don't have to go out and buy CDs, for only $3, or worry about the RIAA suing my ass. I mean it would be better if they could opt out but its not a huge deal.
Its not the idiot who almost dies that is worried about having his identity revealed, its the much larger number of people who don't need it and most likely never will, so why should the be tracked?
"Here's how that announcement came about. I asked someone we were considering hiring why he wanted to come work for us. His response was, "I hang out on the kernel list and it is obvious that Linus is ten times more effective since he switched to BitKeeper." That sounded pretty nice, but I didn't believe it. I knew things were better, but ten times better? That sounded a little too good to be true."
Did you bother to read the article before posting? They say the real number is closer to 2.5x. Sheesh.
Some people work as telemarketers because its the only job they can get. Its not the people calling you who are responsible, they are just doing their job like the employees at sco. Its the ass that makes them call you that is responsible. You think people would clean up shit for a living even though its a shitty job if they didn't NEED the money to LIVE? Of course they wouldn't, justlike people wouldn't work as telemarketers if they could get a job that paid as well elsewhere.
I like the people who complain about not finding a job, but wont take whats offered as a temporary step to findig a better job(IE money to live off of), so they sit on unemployment and complain about how shitty the economy is and how they so poor. Not that this is everyone but I know more than one person like this. I don't have the job I WANT either, but I don't hate my job or get paid great. I am just taking steps to place my self a more strategically available position where my company will hopefully thrust me up the ladder to having a less work + more money job. Or just as much/more work + less monotonous(more interesting) work + more money.
No, flames like this and the few before it make you look like an ass. Who really cares how he speaks. Its the point that is being made that really matters. Did you understand what he was saying? I did.
I have less respect for educated asses than for seemingly uneducated people who have something worthwhile to say.
I buy all of my music from itunes currently, I have stopped sharing my library of over 25 gbs of MP3s illegally and started making the move to a legal music listener. . . if this happens all 25 gbs will be available for download from me again and I will never buy an itunes song. I am not scared of a subpeonia from he RIAA. Make me pay all that money that I don't have. How many people feel this way? Maybe we should warn the record labels tat their greediness is why we dont fucking respect them or PAY for their music. GREED DOES NOT MAKE YOU MONEY LEARN IT AND LEARN IT FAST YOU BASTARDS. Maybe they should start making sure they pay their artists too.
Well they learn it in school. At least I did when I took my ap computer science test on C++. I took a yearlong ap computer programming course, at the time it was known that they would be migrating to java (even tho it sucks b(ig)f(loppy)d(onkey)d(ick)) so they started to integrate it more and more into the curriculum. The interesting thing is in order to get college credit you need to take the BC and score a 4 or a 5 so when I took the AB it was a complete waste of my time. Especially when i would have done just as well on the BC. Maybe all the java based programs I am familiar with are poorly coded but the language tends to pump out programs that can do cool things but are very slothy and inneficient. Why is it ebing pushed so hard to become a standard? Most people I know that use it hate it and only code in it because they have to.
We're still using redhat 7.2 on over 400 servers and couldn't be happier, sure we discuss migrating to newer red hat version, enterprise versions, and other distros, but it doesn't need to be done. None is forcing you to do anything. You can't support older software forever, granted 9 did had a seemingly short run.
Fedora core installation was a snap on my box. My wireless card worked right out of the install, yum updated everything flawlessly, and its been up for 3 weeks now serving as my mediacenter in my home with a radeon 9600se and a bttv878 tv/fm card. Why not wait on getting fedora core 2, a lot work has been done to bring core 1 to where it is
Maybe if they stopped playing counterstrike and left the house one or two nights a week (and I don't mean to go to a lan party or to get more caffeine) they could meet a girl. . . or two. Its better than being a naysaying geek who is bitter cause he can't find a good girl. I mean I am a naysaying geek but Im not bitter or alone.
So what you are saying is we should let these people who have as jaded a view of the world as you do continue to rain havoc in iraqi cities. Creating chaos and killing their own countrymen?
Did you see the carbombs that insurgents set off in basra today? Are we really that bad for trying to stop the people who are doing this? A BUSLOAD OF KIDS BURNED TO DEATH AND YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT *WE* ARE COMMITING THE WARCRIMES?? I don't support the way bush did this, but you do understand that as an american if we pull out of iraq it will be worse for iraqis than it would be for us. Chaos would reign in iraq with multiple groups most liekly wagin civil war and violently deciding who gets war.
Why don't you do your best to speed up the end of this war and go drive trucks in iraq. We'll see how you feel when you are the next possible target to have your humvee rpg and your corpse dragged through the streets.
Innocent civilians die in war. Its sad but true. We are not targeting innocent civilians in iraq.
Did you ever think that it was the persons fault, NOT the cell phones fault, and NOT the symphonies fault? The problem here is that people are assholes, some people don't understand that some etiquette is required if you are to have your cell phone on you all the time. MY CELL PHONE GOES ON VIBRATE EVERY TIME I ENTER A RESTAURANT, MOVIE THEATRE, OR OTHERWISE "QUIET" ATMOSPHERE. Does that make you want to kill me for bringing my phone with me? And what does it matter if she talks during the intermission, at least she isn't talking while its going on. Go cry to your mommy, maybe she will console you.
I like to be able to recieve calls whenever and wherever I want, but its important to know that sometimes its not appropriate, why not let me recieve my call and send out a signal that makes it vibrate or something instead of having no service. What if I am awaiting an important call. I hate those loud ass polyphonic ringtones as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean we should block cell phones out completely. Silence is not a right, my freedom to speak is a right however.
I use telnet everysingle day at my office with APC this is mission critical to what we do. We also use minicom with a custom config file. . . the speed is so slow it barely can move the lines of text faster than you can read it. Mini com allows us to get into a server at a remote location if it drops to single user mode or for some reason can't get on the network. Minicom kicks in and lets you see what the computer is doing before it gets to grub/lilo even.
These are OLD AND SLOW technologies but they ALMOST NEVER BREAK. The web dialogue I could use instead of telnet is slow and unreliable.

Damn white house tried to cookie me when I clicked that link. THEY ARE TRACKING ME OMG. Someone please help the cia is on its way.

I can't wait till you have a heart attack and are rushed to the emergency room. See how you feel about it then.
