  1. There is no law limiting people from driving in Canada, or anywhere in the US.

All these people talking about earbuds limiting your ability to hear things around you being the reason have no idea what they are talking about legally speaking.

Check the laws for Canada, or any of the 50 states, and you will see no limitations for a normal license.

If the McJobs actually cared about what they did, and got your orders correct, I would agree, but most of the time they can't be bothered.

They are to busy listening to crap going on in the background.

I can't wait for the rest of them to go peopleless. The people do a terrible job and 9 out of 10 times literally get orders wrong.

Same basic issue with checkout lines. You get people that sit there chatting when there are 5 people deep and the person doing the checkout is slow AF. I can go to a self checkout line and be done in a fraction of the time.

I think that when a company does something like this, the fine should be 2-5 times the amount of money they made... That would make them much less interested in doing something that is clearly wrong.

I doubt very much that the tiny fine they have to pay even comes close to how much money they made.

So, the 8 year old system doesn't do what I need, so I should upgrade to the 4 year old version because it will be "good enough" for now as the same price I should be paying for current hardware? Computers are much like transportation. Can you get there by walking? Sure, it might take a few days, but you can. Does that mean you shouldn't upgrade to a car that can get you there many times as fast? Them selling old outdated systems even as an option is shameful in the extreme and they are just suckering people in with brand loyalty.

  10. Only a short while before PC's out preform it? on Microsoft Xbox Project Scorpio Puts Out 6 TFLOPs On Par With Current Gaming PCs (hothardware.com) · · Score: 1

they are talking about releasing a console a year from now that compares to today's mid range hardware. TFLOPS means nothing for GPU performance. the GTX 1080 with 5.3 TFLOPS walks all over the AMD 480 from a performance standpoint. The only place consoles can get a boost in performance is by the vendor squeezing out every last bit of performance to get "close" to PC gaming levels the year they were released, after that and often well before PCs walk all over console performance without all the special optimizations that are done for each console platform.

nope, that's not the case anymore either. There are very few multiplayer games that you have multiple people sitting in front of the same couch for anymore. Now the games are all over the network, and people are using their consoles more like gaming rigs with all the drawbacks that consoles come with. For the same price as a console you can purchase a mid range gaming pc that you can upgrade. Are there people afraid to open a case? yes, and those people will always be at a disadvantage for various reasons.

  12. Good for Tesla! on Elon Musk Cancels Stewart Alsop's Tesla Order Over Complaints About Launch Event · · Score: 5, Insightful

I think it's good that he got his order canceled. If you are going to complain in an "open letter", you are pretty much just attention seeking. If you wanted to help the company out or support it in a positive light, you would have kept your issues between you and the company. I also agree that it must be a slow news day.
