    Exactly how I felt when I was reading Yonatan Zunger's reply yesterday. -- Yeah, right, Dr Zunger, writing like a true "expert". Those in any relationship knows better -- all pundits look cool only because the shit hasn't hit their own fan.

    The field is completely toxic! One cannot even remain silent. The best one can hope for is that the shit doesn't hit him/her/ze. So, my sympathy is with Google. (Google, here's a tip: make it go back to Uber instead.)

    More precisely.

    The engineer wrote a memo which states scientific facts, the interpretations of those facts, and his advice to his employer based on those interpretations.

    Google, in an attempt to quell feminist outrage, _lawfully_ fired the engineer.

    Let's just take it that these two parties did nothing wrong -- although one may argue that they should have handled things better.

    You want to pit equally skilled American workers with their foreign counterparts, and give the American some advantage.

    If all the sectors and ages are judged on equal ground, then all the visas will go to the older, overpaid "SAP consultants", and there will be zero chance for entry level jobs to be given to a foreigner, even if he is a star programmer that will prove to be the next Linus Torvalds.

    Your link points to a workshop whether experimental mathematicians discuss how to better achieve reproducibility in their work.

    It's not like someone has done a study on their work and debunked most of them. If you ask me, they are VERY FAR AHEAD.

    Actually, don't worry so much about the ego thing. I teach data science, and I am fairly candid about the "b******t" thing. Many other people I know who does "Big Data" knows and admits it's "b******t", too.
