More like the way supercomputers are run. Youve got to submit a job to be done, and then the jobs are arranged by priority and it may take a while before your code runs on it.
You can change it if you have admin rights. But Windows is mostly used by businesses still, which dont let their users control anything.
Also, Windows isnt a cheap operating system. If Im gonna pay for something, it better be useable. When I use Linux, I expect it to be basically unuseable out of the box and need a lot of changes to get it working, but thats ok because I didnt pay for it
There's a nice thing about Linux. You don't like a particular program your distro of choice came with? Replace it. There's plenty of alternatives for just about any part of the system, and it's generally not very hard to swap them out. As for drivers, I've never had any major problems on Linux with drivers for my stuff (though Windows 7 did refuse to use the driver for my graphics card for a while). Not sure what to tell you there.
Nothing. The idea is more of "get a few thousand people and as much information as possible to mars". A few thousand people wouldn't be all that difficult to transport (compared to billions, at least) And would be enough to carry on humanity without too many genetic issues.
Huh? Star Trek and Doctor Who are bad examples. In Star Trek (though im not sure of any episodes when German was spoken) they have universal translators. In Doctor Who most species have something similar (TARDIS translation matrix for time lords), and in one episode a Dalek was shown speaking German using whatever their equivalent is.
Businesses still have issues with people holding files? Why not just have it on some network storage that Jim can access from anywhere, and all changes get saved to that. Then Jim can go do whatever he wants and everyone already can access his files
Who cares, there probably isnt anything at this conference worth stealing or preventing the theft of
These politicians arent incompetent, they are corrupt. Theres a difference.
Linux philosophy then

Windows 7 was mediocre? Sure, its not as good as Linux, but its by far the best OS Microsoft has ever made
I don't really think he's going to ever be a ginger. not until his last life, anyway.

Having 2 young girls also makes it your job as a parent to do this, not the government. This "save the children" shit is getting really irritating
Why would you subject anyone to that
And yet you're the one that brought it up.

Why? It's a reasonably good language for most high level stuff
That's a rather odd scale.

Is there any known method of error checking DNA? Like a checksum sort of thing where if it doesn't match the organism dies?
Right, because a company that goes to the effort of putting custom ROMs on 50 phones is very likely to not bother to uninstall a few apps
I don't think you know what web 2.0 means.
I've never had trouble using multiple windows in Unity?
As someone not keeping up with most of this stuff, in what way are they trying to cause disunity?
I can only assume that is sarcasm. America isn't even in the too 20 freest countries
Did I fall asleep?
I was always under the impression that, once licenced under the GPL, any later versions or forks of it would have to be GPL as well?
