I have an alternate solution I've proposed that will won't save much energy, but will make the transition to and from Daylight Savings easier on all of us.
Hi, it's Josh. I'm not sure how to submit a correction to slashdot, but I am NOT the person responsible for the WIX/WTL projects. I site them as examples and am working with people who where responsible for those projects to enable more of the same for the groups I work in. It would be great if someone at Slashdot could change the wording here since I really can't take credit for the work the WIX and WTL project leaders have done.
Yup, that's my penguin. One of my buddies, a big linux guy @ Vanderbilt knew I was going to Microsoft and dared me to give it a good home. And it's been a fixture in my office for the last 4 years.
I agree. End the movie when he is trapped staring at the blue fairy.
The people in my theater just burst out laughing when it went on. Instantly the movie went from "Wow, this a great, albiet sad movie" to "That is just silly and rediculas"
The first 3/4 of the movie was four stars.
There are not so much failings of KDE and NOME but really they have done nothing to innovate. Those UI's just both steal/borrow from both Mac and Windows UI. What is innovative about iether of those UI's besides the fact they run on the all mighty linux?
When sopmeone assumes something they make an Ass out of U and Me. I could not resist saying this because everyone is assuming that you will have to pay for a new OS when you get a new machine or upgrade. 1. All you have to do is call or go online and get a new authentication code. You DO NOT have to buy a new OS. 2. It would probably take a new machine alltogether to deactivate the OS. Just adding a CD-RW drive will not deactivate your version of windows.
3. Microsoft is here today and will be tomorrow. Deal or don't use thier stuff.
- If you don't like it change the channel... Oh wait Steve Case is the one who actually owns everything, it doesn't matter.
1. To be a programmer one must first learn the basic use of computer systems. This task is far and away better accomplished by learning on an enviornment provided by iether Apple or MS. The user interface is much more intuitive and, I'm sorry to say, much closer to the future of computer than a *nix/DOS prompt.
2. Not everyone has natural programming talent. Some are far better than others. The damand for the skill far outstrips the supply. In order to increase the supply, thus helping to further improve techknology (Not my spelling), there is a need for systems and enviornments that don't scare off the average person from learning how to use the tools. This is was MS excells at. And that is why most software shops use MS VS. BC it is easier to learn and more work is accomplished from a higher level of abstraction.
3. For a long time people beleived that machines could never compile assembly code that was as efficient and usefull as humans could. Noone ever thought that compiled languages would take off. People would be kidding themselves again to think that there won't soon be another revolution that allows programming to iether be done visually or through the spoken word. Thus making learning all details of a *nix system irrelevant.
That's my 3 cents and I'm sticking to it.
I'm not saying my solution doesn't have its own issues. :-)

Might as well kill two birds with one stone!

Oh, I'm also the one with the Sand in the office!

"Multiplicity". Cloning is not so negative in that movie.
