You sound like my wife. I think her overall intelligence is somewhat similar to mine, but she's much slower at her work. But she's extremely thorough and very good at what she does. She just takes a while. If you give us both the same task (and at one point we both did the same job, so it's relevant) I'll be done in 1/2 the time and I'll be probably 95% accurate. It might take her twice as long but she's 100% accurate.
Some jobs require unfailing accuracy and some require speed. Most employers are probably looking for a balance. But sometimes you need one or the other. I'll take the speed jobs and my wife will take the accuracy jobs.
On that note, we're willing to relocate if anybody's hiring...:)
I've always looked at it like processor speed. I've taken a few "IQ tests" in the distant past, and I've come out to around 130 to 140ish. But that's really subjective and I understand why people think IQ is bullshit. I could be just average, who knows.
But when dealing with most people it just feels like I'm thinking faster. Like they are able to reach much the same conclusions, it just takes them longer to formulate thoughts and ideas. I get impatient that conversations are taking so long when I can already predict where we're going to end up. I sort of feel "overclocked" if you will. When I find someone who seems to think at my speed, it's awesome. We usually have a great conversation - that happens relatively quickly.
That or to keep out drunk people and kids. My wife and I always lock all of our doors every night. We both realize those locks would never keep a professional out, but they will keep out drunk people who think they are home when they aren't, and kids playing games for the most part.
Thanks for the idea, and I hadn't heard of Lastpass, so I looked them up and found this. Stuff like that, while probably never likely to affect me personally, still scares the hell out of me.
Yes, that's just one site. But if one site I use has their PW file stolen and broken I lose out on one site (and potentially any others I've used that specific PW for). If I trusted something like lastpass with my entire life and then they were successfully hacked...
I've often thought about trying something like Password Safe, but I commonly use 4 different computers that I might need my passwords on. And 3 of those are at home where I might be accessing a bank. So unless there's some way around that problem I'm not thinking of, I'll stick to my main 6 or 8 long random ones.
Ha, what I really need is some sort of cloud password service. Wait...
I'm at 4.0 Ghz, but my CPU temps are still pretty low. I set it at 4.0 when I built it, checked temps and went with it. I should probably push that a little...;)
There was a multiplayer alpha which I was part of, and the game ran at 60fps highest settings on my i7-920 and a Nvidia GTX460.
So take that as you will.
Good to hear. I just upgraded my card (7870 2 GB), but my CPU is also an i7 920, which is I guess getting dated as far as 'top of the line' gaming CPUs.
I just built my son a computer for Christmas with an i5 3570k clocked at 4.5 GHz. Even with my old card in it (6870 1 GB), it smokes my machine./sigh Depressing.
Yeah, actually if you RTFA and look at the pictures included with it, they are assembling it on site. Yes, the trusses themselves were constructed elsewhere and brought in assembled, but the structure itself is being erected next to the reactor and will then be moved into place over the reactor on rails once it is completed.
Think he meant Activision/Blizzard. And the fact that Diablo 3 requires you to always be connected to Blizzard's servers even while playing single player, while maybe not pure evil, is the reason I will never buy Diablo 3.
Probably has more to do with lower than normal atmospheric pressure in the vehicle than gravity.
What I was thinking. Smelling something (and therefore tasting, somewhat) depends on molecules from that substance reaching your nose through the air. If the air pressure is lower, there are less molecules reaching your scent receptors. Just a thought. I have no idea how it really works.
Nope, not just discovering. I've used computers since my C64 in the mid 80s. I'm on a computer all day at work and most nights at home - probably far more than is healthy. But I've been a gamer ever since I first saw Space Invaders, and so my home computer is always built for gaming. A good gaming machine can do most other computer related things just fine. We have a PS1, PS2, PS3, Wii, miscellaneous Gameboys, etc., but mainly my son uses those. Give me a keyboard and a mouse to control games any day.
I used to be a die hard Mac guy until the early 2000s when I realized none of the games I wanted to play were available for Mac. So I switched to XP and never looked back. Now I am on Windows 7 and it works for me, but like many 8 scares the hell out of me. I want my task bar, I don't want a tablet GUI, and now this. Will I switch to Linux in the immediate future? Nope. But I won't be "upgrading" to 8. And if MS doesn't see the light and fix it before 7 is no longer supported, then I'll certainly look to Linux. Prior to Windows 8 I would never have considered that. I could probably be forced to get used to the GUI, but privacy issues are a big deal to me.
You know, I've been resisting Linux all these years, but with the current direction of Windows development and greater Linux game support (Steam, etc.) I may make the switch yet...
The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. It is designed to quickly establish air superiority against the best fighters currently available. In all of our current conflicts, we have controlled the skies completely from the first several days of each campaign. So there really hasn't been a need for F-22s in those conflicts. The F-22 would be useful in a war against China, Russia, or any other country with a more modern air force capable of challenging the US for air superiority.
I'm not advocating barring anyone from office based on religion - far from it. You should be able to hold political office no matter what your religion or if you are atheist/agnostic. What I want isn't practical and will probably never happen. I just want to live in a world where government is truly separate from religion. Where nobody cares what your religious beliefs are or aren't.
I also would like to win the lottery and a functional Starship Enterprise.
That said, how many members of the US Senate/HofR are openly non-Christian?
Someone's religious beliefs, or lack thereof, should have absolutely no bearing on governing a country. Any country. Too bad this is not the case in most cases...
I don't care if you believe in God, Allah, the FSM, or nothing at all. Knock yourself out. Just keep all of it out of my government.
TMI

small rocket + net + parachute. Navy waiting underneath.
Why, so we can steal North Korea's advanced satellite technology?
Play path of exile if you want a continuation of the awsome that was diablo 2.
Or Torchlight 2

Citizen #312374213 we've noticed a suspicious looking mole on your left upper thigh. You might want to get that checked out...
Actually, it seems to be a little harder to read than normal for me. I've never thought I had dyslexia, though.
Wait, who's evil? And why?

I don't give a shit about corporations. I do give a shit about the network hardware controlling the local nuclear power plant.

If this were truly the case, and the DOJ does really have problems in dealing with iOS devices, I'd expect them to remain tight lipped about it.
No, they'd strong arm Apple into providing them with back doors and then remain tight lipped about it...

How long until we have a working Ansible?
