  1. The new Start button will be 1st thing I disable on First Looks At Windows 8.1, Complete With 'Start' Button · · Score: 1

I can't wait for Windows 8.1 but I am not a fan of the old Start button. Thank goodness they aren't bringing back the whole Start menu. Yuck!

  3. 5%? Yawn. Call us when it's 90% faster. on Google Chrome 27 Is Out: 5% Faster Page Loads · · Score: 1

This isn't news. No user will notice a 5% improvement in load times. We'd much rather have a smaller memory footprint.

  4. The EU will fine Microsoft to offset Google on Amazon, Google and Apple Won't Need To Pay Tax, Despite Goverment Threats · · Score: 0

As usual, the EU will find some way to squeeze Microsoft through frivolous anti-trust charges in order to pay the tax deficit from Google, Amazon, Apple and other tax dodgers. Unlike those companies Microsoft actually pays it's taxes.

  6. Very nice! Now do the same for Windows 8 on Microsoft YouTube App Strips Ads; Adds Download · · Score: 1

They should implement the same functionality in a Windows 8 (Windows Store) app. Furthermore, if the user clicks a link to a youtube video in an email or app the OS should launch the app instead of the browser. Now that would be awesome.

  7. Not a smart idea on Boston Replacing Microsoft Exchange With Google Apps · · Score: 2

  8. Please, please don't bring back the Start button. on Microsoft's "New Coke" Moment? · · Score: 1

It's useless!!!! If they bring back the Start button that will the very first thing I disable. If they don't let me disable it I will get (or write) an app that hides it. I can't stand the Start button and anyone who insists they need it has probably never actually used Windows 8.

Microsoft finally becomes an innovator and a leader in creating beautiful, intuitive, clean interfaces and the luddites pull us back to 1995. Just stick with Windows 7 if you can't adjust to the new world. If they end up adding the Start button it will be the first thing I disable. It's ugly, clunky, takes up space and is totally useless..

  11. Re:, but I've learned to adapt. on ZDNet Proclaims "Windows: It's Over" · · Score: -1, Troll

Boo hoo. Then just use Windows 7. I will never go back to Windows 7. Windows 8 has been a HUGE improvement for my daily workflow. I LOVE the ability to keep all my open IDE's and utilities running on the desktop, then switch over to run a quick app or game, then return to the desktop where I left everything. It finally brings the concept of "multiple desktops" to the Windows ecosystem.

But it also includes home appliances, cash registers, industrial machinery and millions of other devices that runs Windows Embedded, CE, Compact or one of its many other SKUs. No, I don't think Apple will be overtaking Microsoft any time soon.
