I got a MP3 player from about 4 years ago, from the prehistory.
The battery life is amazing, probably 20 times greater than those "smart"phones. I use it every they, and I have to charge it every month or so (and the battery charges really really fast). Yet it plays music, and smoothly. I don't give a damm about other features.
It is. Trust me. I'm about that age (and I read Slashdot, so I'm computer literate), yet I've had panic attacks when someone sends me a mail/posts on whichever-social-network things like "Oh God! I got no internet connection! Could someone print me that file?", among others.
Don't think so. Beginning at 04:50 AM, thousands of millions of people (mostly students) will be reloading the Wikipedia main page at a rate of 60 times per minute, 25 million people. Kind of Slashdot effect!
Well it's fine; but for a reason. Because all you Facebook members accepted the terms of use! (Some of us don't have that problem.)
Even if it is in the terms of use (which I haven't read), you know, it's not much ethical giving out private data to third parties.
I must disagree. Even if *everyone* in the world steals/murders, it's not a good thing! On the other hand, I find calling "best and most responsible" Apple, taking into account their patents, and killing of innovation, inappropiate (though it's not worker-rights-related).
Virus would be terrible, especially for those not focusing on driving... "Turn right fast!" and fall from a bridge... Also, viruses could mean GPS data being to 3rd parties, etc.
Thanks! I had looked at it before -- and certainly I'd love to join it. It has the added value of Python programming. However, it seems I'm not eligible this year (probably next year or the other).
Being part of the generation Z, sometimes I still wonder how people survived with less than one megabyte of memory, no tabs (no Internet!)... Depressing!

Where very unlucky is a great part of Africa's population and other countries?
Even the general Slashdot feeling towards Microsoft, it is true that his (and Melinda's) work is great. Let's hope he keeps it up!
visas for highly skilled coders
What would the criteria be?
Heaven?
Let's go to the basement! Whoops, we already are :).
Now we will have 1000002 different programming languages (final 2 so that Slashdotters understand it's not binary). And an obligatory XKCD reference.

Because they use AdBlock (and before any troll comments on the new mode; go to the menu and uncheck the allow acceptable ads section)!
In related news... CmdrTaco comes back!

In fact, Jimbo Wales — founder of Wikipedia — kindly warned students yesterday.

Thankfully, there's moderation on Slashdot. Browsing at more than 1 avoids that kind of comments.

The "nano-ear," a microscopic particle of gold trapped by a laser beam, can detect sound a million times fainter than the threshold for human hearing.
Bazillions of Slashdotters will begin posting their submissions. Each one with an enormous ego "Mine is better!".
Or as a strategic point: "Look how bad they are! They are killing dolphins!".

Clarifying, it was in red on the first page. Now it's not. Can anyone explain me this? Thanks.
Why in red?
High-tech computers, working uninterruptedly for about 10 years, have finally discovered the exact minimum number of clues for the binary sudoku.
