  1. According to their Terms Of Service on Amazon's New Storage Service · · Score: 1
    From Amazon's Terms of Service:

    2) You may make calls at any time that the Amazon Web Services are available, provided that you either:

    or

(ii) do not exceed the limits set forth in the Service Terms for a particular Service. If you build and release an Application, the stated limitations apply to each installed copy of the Application.

I hope that 'or' means that if the Terms of Service of a particular webservice are less restrictive then those terms apply instead of part (i). If it's the lower limits that apply, this isn't very useful.

I don't believe that "a fast track through the FDA" is ever advisable for any new drug meant for human consumption.

I respectfully disagree. I think FDA should allow a terminally-ill patient to volunteer to participate in an advance human trial, given that some VERY BASIC toxicity tests have been performed (by which I mean that it won't outright kill humans at the lowest intended dose). This may help the individual, but will definitely help the research into the drug for everyone else.

They think the mere fact that an embryo has the potential to become a human being gives it moral value, makes it "worthy of being saved." This is because they know human beings have moral value, and so conflate "a thing with potential to be something of moral value" with "a thing that has moral value."

I think you overlook the millions of people that believe that an embryo is a human being, not something that has the potential to become a human being; therefore making the rest of your argument spurious.

Thank you for a well-reasoned and informative reply! IANAAEBIDMIP (I an not an astronomer either, but I did minor in Physics).

On another tangent, wouldn't a magnetar's extreme magnetic field work to either trap or expel any unbound electrons either in the star itself or around it? As I recall, magnetic fields exert a force on a moving charged particle something like -qVxB, forcing the particle to travel in a helix. What effect would such an extreme field have on electrons inside the star? If there were differential motion between the field and particle, I could imagine the electrons churning inside the star in response to field fluctuations, generating heat, if not higher frequency emissions.

Ok, so a magnetar is a type of neutron star with an extremely strong magnetic field. Also from TFA:
A magnetar's interior is a dense, liquid-like mix of neutrons, protons, and electrons ...
So, is it a neutron stat or not? I was under the impression that neutron stars were called that because the immense gravitational field squished all the protons and electrons together into neutrons, forming an all-neutron star. It would seem that Wikipedia's definition supports the idea of a non-homogeneous neutron composition. When did it change from being all-neutrons to having a yummy mostly-neutrony center?

I agree that the findings are very interesting and important, but to state that the gullies "simply did not exist" is overstating the facts, IMHO.
