...whether the First Amendment protects nudie bar dancing.
You seem quite well-read on the history of things Constitutional. Perhaps you can give me a little history on how "Freedom of Speech" became "Freedom of Expression". I lean toward "dead document" interpretation, and it chafes me greatly every time I hear someone scream about their non-existent right of "freedom of expression". My guess is one of the aforementioned activist judges decided that speech wasn't just spoken words, but anything else they wanted it to mean.
Funny you should say that - I'll pass on the tentacles, but I've wanted chromataphores since I was a kid. How cool would that be? My wife would know my mood without either of us having to say a thing. On second thought, that might not be good...
Here are some very interesting additional Annexes. Page "16 of 16" of "Logical Data Structure(LDS) version 1.7" gives a good one-page overview of the data on thr RFID chip.
Document 9303 at the ICAO. Note that it's the international Civil Aviation organization that defined the standard and is pushing it. Note that they intentionally do not encrypt the data so that it's simpler and easier for third world governments to read.

"UCSB Student Engineers Grade Hack" - I expected that a bunch of UCSB "Student Engineers" had graded a hack (I give it a 7 for being clever,...), not that a UCSB Student Engineered a grade hack.
Imagine getting some that fluoresce under 'black light' and putting those suckers in your epidermal/dermal cells! You'd be the hit of the club scene changing colors and glowing!
Your train idea isn't so farfetched seeing that in the US what we call Diesel locomotive engines are really Diesel electric engines. The Diesel engine turns a honkin' alternator. The power from the alternator is used to power electric motors that drive the wheels. Instead of Diesel -> AC Alternator -> motor you could have Diesel -> AC Alternator -> rectifiers -> battery bank <-> motor/generators+PWM controls.
Note the double-ended arrow - the motor/generators could easily recharge the batteries on downhill runs.
Wow. I see that they're claiming advances in Wh/l and W/l (Energy and Power volume density). What about Wh/kg and W/kg? Does this new battery have higher energy and power mass density?
We invented nuclear bombs before we invented intermittent wipers for cars.
We had anti-intermittent wipers before the bomb. My father had an 1930's pickup truck with wipers driven by engine vacuum. At rest, the wipers would go like mad. As soon as you started moving, the vacuum would drop off, and the wipers would slow to a crawl just when you need them most.:-)
You're correct that I didn't take reactance into consideration when calculating the real vs apparent power into a speaker. I haven't done the math, but I bet the difference is small at bass freqs - 15Hz - 150Hz or so. That's where the 1500W amp was used. What's the inductance of an 8 ohm, 15" Cerwin Vega or Pyle Driver, anyway?
...but you don't run ANY WHERE NEAR that much current through a speaker.
Let's see, power = current^2 * resistance, or current = sqrt(power / resistance). 1500W into 8 ohms = 13.7A. 1500W into 4 ohms = 19.36A, so you can run that much current thru a speaker. Remember, too, that with such low impedance speakers, every milliohm lost in the connectors dissipates real power. One extra ohm in the circuit (0.5 ohm in each leg, wire + connectors) dissipates 187.5 watts!
This all has me wondering of anybody here has used 10-gauge Romex as speaker cable.
Yes! My brother who used to run a kW/channel with a pair of Carvers used either #10 or #8 for speaker wire, and 220V/30A twistlocks for connectors. It worked very well. We looked at the instantaneous current waveform, at it was great due to the low resistance of the wire and connectors.
Did you bother to talk to the ham? Most hams are acutely aware that causing interference is not appreciated, and are more than willing to help mitigate the interference without having to involve the FCC. As you found out, as long as the ham is legal, it's your problem. Remember seeing a sticker or paragraph in your user's manual about undesired interference? YOU, as the part 15 device operator, are required to deal with any interference from any licensed service.
As far as running an "illegal" amp, hams are generally allowed to run as much as 1500W on specific frequency bands from 1.8 MHz into the GHz. The most troublesome for TV are between 1.8 and 54 MHz. TV Channel 2 runs from 54-60 MHz, so it's understandable that a kW at 52MHz would have an effect on an unshielded TV.
I encourage you to contact the hams(s) you think are involved, I am willing to contact them on your behalf if you tell me where you live (I'll look them up by address).
Amateur radio operators (among others) use Maidenhead Locator Squares for general location specification. You can add as many digits as necessary to get the desired precision. For HF work, it's sufficient for me to specify "FM17". For VHF work, I use FM17fr.
Benjamin Britten was a nut job, or at least set the words of a nut job to music. That would be Rejoice in the Lamb, the lyrics of which were taken from Jubilate Agno, written by Christopher Smart while in a mental institution. Strange indeed. I've performed Rejoice and A ceremony of Carols, both odd. Ceremony is hauntingly addictive to listen to.
I beg to differ on the lifespan part - I've had 5+ CF bulbs die within a year or two. I think their _theoretical_ lifespan is long, but in practice they're cheaply made and croak early.
... replace my ancient oil-fired furnace with a much more efficient one (still oil-fired). I went from a 1.0 gph nozzle to a 0.7 gph nozzle, and the furnace still runs less than before.
I also consolidated many of the 6 servers I had running on old hardware onto 1 or 2 honkin' servers. The power required went down by a 1.25 kW. Over a month, that was 915 kW-hr. At 8 cents/kW-hr, that's $75/month right there.

I didn't see anything phishy in FireFox 1.0.2. I looked at the source, and nothing _looked_ untoward. What exactly did you see? What did you click on?

Although I agree with your points, at least respect him enough to use his correct name - it's Roland, not Ronald.

Why would an 8 foot tall Wookie live on a planet full of 3 foot tall ewoks?
He eats them.

It is "per se", from Latin.

Let me make it absoloutly clear to you.
- Many people equate conception with the beginning of life.
- The definition of abortion is the "discarding" of an in-utero embryo.
- The act of "discarding" an embryo terminates it's biological functions.
Ergo a discarded embryo, regardless of it's location (in a test tube or in utero) is equivalent to murder.Just because you have strong views doesn't give you the right to be preachy.
