That's 5000A at 110V for you guys over in the States
We do have 220V (really 240V), just not to your typical outlet. 240V is reserved for large appliances such as stoves, clothes dryers, window-mounted air conditioners, and water heaters. We have what are called Split-phase systems. A typical residential outlet is 120V@15A max, but 20A outlets are available.
My uncle had one of these systems in coastal NC 25 years ago! The laws then forbade him from putting water back into the ground (regardless that it had only traveled through clean piping), so he pumped the water through his system and used it to irrigate his garden. The water table was about 4-6 feet down, and he had essentially an endless supply of water (see map) that wasn't very good for drinking. He used to live in this geodesic dome.
I agree completely. Everything is turning into a DHMO scare. If you want to scare the heck out of someone, have then read the MSDS of some of the chemicals you can buy by the gallon at you local DIY store. Methyl Ethyl Ketone, xylene, etc. People blithely ignore the safety data for these because they think if it's at a DIY store it must be somehow 'safe'.
Very good point, I forgot that snail mail has people who take fraud via their medium quite seriously. I wish that were the case universally *cough*Internet*cough* *cough*Telephone*cough*.
In recent parlance "router" implies a consumer level router/NAT appliance, but that's not necessarily so. Routers predated NAT by a zillion years, and routing is distinctly separate from any NAT functionality. There are plenty of routers using in large IT shops where requiring NAT would be a serious handicap.
Not to support the geological theory over the bilogical one, but I gathered from watching the discussion that 'Serpentization' is the leading geologic candidate, and this paper from Dartmouth seems to indicate:
When water
containing dissolved carbon dioxide comes in contact with olivine, it
produces hydrogen, which then combines with carbon dioxide to produce
methane. The authors contend that olivine is abundant on Mars at
shallow
depths, and it could easily react with fluids just beneath the surface.
What may end up being more intriguing is how the methane is being destroyed - they can't seem to think of a non-biological way to destroy that much methane that quickly. Their leading hypothesis seems to be another set of critters that use it as an energy source.
Maybe "you" do, and you don't know it. I think it would be prudent to call BoA, tell them what you received, and make sure someone isn't laundering money using an account opened with your SSN, name, or address.
Even so, this utility shows the inner 3 very close together (although at Jupiter's edge) at 01:49 UT on 1/19/2009. Also, on 1/20/2009 at 07:59 UT all but Io are close together. Remember, I don't care if they're close wrt to each other in space, just along the same line wrt my eye.
I guess my point is that even if the breathalyzer is over 0.08, a blood test (which is more accurate) may show that you're really 0.05 or whatever.
Re: your advice: I totally agree that not drinking and driving is the best course of action. I choose not to drink at all since I seem to have trouble with that "moderation" thing.
As stated less forcefully in other replies, if you refuse a breathalyzer test in Virginia, you _will_ lose your driving privilege. I think you can require them to take a blood test, but that's _in addition_ to the breathalyzer, not instead of it.
As an astronomer, perhaps you could do me a favor. Do you know of a site that predicts conjunctions of Jupiter's Galilean satellites from Earth's perspective? I'd like to know when those four moons are _very_ close together, and preferably not in front of or behind Jupiter as seen from Earth. I know that the inner three are in a binary 1:2:4 rumba, but the fourth one (Callisto) doesn't like to dance.
If nothing else, are the Jupiter-centric Keplerian elements published anywhere? Thank you in advance.
ZigBee devices are supposed to fill that exact niche. ZigBee is a mesh technology that is designed for low-power devices such as smart outlets, etc. It supports reasonable crypto.
You can get cool OEM boards here, and a cool dev kit with 5 different modules here.

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

F) He's going to make our mortgage payments and buy gas for us!!!
...Or have the COW detect the surrounding cells and pick its operating frequencies and power level accordingly?
What Opera and other companies really want is IE off the start menu and the components left in the OS.
What Opera and other companies really want is Windows off the planet and the components left to rot.
There, fixed that for you 8-)
CO/H mixtures are also known as Syngas.

Mice were spontaneously generated from piles of rags.
What do beef jerky 'tones' sound like? ~
Probably, "Moo. Moo. Oh No, not the bolt to the head! Not the ... [ THUMP ]."

Understood, but refusing a breathalyzer test is _not_ always the best course of action as was claimed in the parent comment.

Not USB, ZigBee.

Frankly I find skinny good looking women who wear too much clothing to be vulgar.
You must be Ferengi. What was that line from TNG? "You shamelessly _clothe_ your women and force them to work among you!"
Maybe he's Scottish. If It's Not Scottish, It's CRAAAAP!
Magnifico-o-o-o!
And he was kidding about the moon blinding you w/o filters. ITs brightness is a surprise, but you'll be able to see afterwards.
He may have been kidding, but I thought I had done just that.
