    IANAL and neither is my friend but he's almost done with law school and we talk about this stuff...

    A contract requires something to be given on both sides (with normal software, you are granted licenses to use the software in consideration for money that you pay the company)... with free software, you aren't giving them anything, so there is no contract...

    daemon tools exists and works perfectly for cds... I imagine it's only a matter of time before it or something like it supports dvds... if it doesn't already...

    ok I misread what you said and I thought you were saying that the games are 4.7 gig... even if they're 10 gig it's still $5/gig to buy them... still cheaper to rent and copy, and you get that disk space back when you're done with the game...

    Well the link is down so I can't check what they say against this, but disk space costs less than games... You can get the new 160 gig drives for $300, which is $2 per gig... Games are $50 for 4.7 gig, which is about $10 per gig... it's a lot cheaper to just rent the game and copy it to your hard drive, and it's a hell of a lot easier to get an emu to ignore copy protection than it is to build / install a mod chip...

    I'd say this is bad news for MS... I can tell you if I can get my hands on this emu I intend to head right out and rent and copy halo...
